Even though Panzerfausts (depending on the year, I think) may fire up to 3 hexes, their accuracy more than 1 hex away is abysmal.

I made a brief test, aligning 10 T-34 m43 and setting up 10 PF-armed German 1st line squads 1,2 and 3 hexes away on an empty map. I had the following results:

1-hex range: 7 kills, 3 misses, 1 GE 1st line squad suffered Casualty Reduction and broke (*)
2-hex range: 3 kills, 7 misses
3-hex range: 1 kill, 9 misses

No failed penetration, immobilised or shock results occurred (I think the PF penetration is high enough to destroy anything, with the possible exception of a IS-2)

Any leader DRM will increase accuracy, while firing after moving will decrease it.

(*) I thought this could only happen when firing from buildings [X(]

@fuselex:

I like gaining some knowledge about the capabilities of the units we use :D.

I made a second series of tests, using IS-2s as targets: I had 9 kills at range 1, 7 at range 2 and 1 at range 3. This is not to mean the IS-2 is more vulnerable (IIRC, it has no To Hit size modifiers). 10 firings per range per test is not a valid statistical sample and there is room for ample variation. In order to obtain truly reliable data, it would be necessary to perform the tests using a much higher sample. Here, I have only got some very rough indications about the Panzerfaust effectiveness.

An average of the two series of tests gives 90% kills at 1 hex, 50% at 2 hexes and 10% at 3 hexes.

All the tests have been performed firing against the front aspect, and all hits were straight kills, so I think target facing is unimportant (it does not affect the "To Hit" chance and the PF seems to be able to penetrate any armor).
