Poles vs. the Germans

Poles defend 3000 points
mines 90 max at start
artillery 500 max

Germans assault 6000 points
artillery 700 max

60x60 map
LOS 25

pick!

Polish forces....which I like because they are underdogs....or the Wehrmacht...but without Katz. hmmmmmmm.

If I win with the Poles in 39'...it's a victory that is twice as sweet...however, even entrechment factors won't save the Poles for long at this period of time...on that small of a map, where a tidal wave rush by the Germans would certainly prevail regardless. hmmmmmmm.

I guess it's a question of how cocky am I?

I'll take the Poles. ;)

Orzel, no offense, but he may be smarter than you... He knew you would go with the Polish forces, and he ends up with 2 to 1 on points... Smash him anyways....

yes, I know he has obviously done his homework...and knew that I would probably take the Poles and suffer a huge disadvantage.

However I feel confident that I can pull this off.

Why dost thou converse with that trunk of humours, that bolting-hutch of beastliness, that swollen parcel of dropsies, that huge bombard of sack, that stuffed cloak-bag of guts, that roasted Manningtree ox with pudding in his belly, that reverend vice, that grey Iniquity, that father ruffian, that vanity in years?

Jim Lindquist is next and will sing

"O vos omnes, qui transitis per viam, attendite et videte, si est dolor sicut dolor meus. Idcirco ego plorans, et oculus meus deducens aquas, quia longe factus est a me consolator, convertens animam meam. Defecerunt prae lacrimis oculi mei: conturbata sunt omnia viscera mea: effusum est in terra iecur meum, super contritione filii mei, quoniam praevaluit inimicum"

OK Here we go...

Post by Orzel Bialy »

There was the typical smoke barrage...and a wave of German infantry advances behind it.

In the center a Polish 40mm AA crew spots a group of Panzer Mk III's trying to advance to a wooded area near our front line...and this gallant guncrew forces two of the panzer crews to bail.

Elsewhere two 88's are sited...one to the north and one to the south...and they are given some MG fire to make their crews think twice. Outside of that a couple German MG and scout teams receive some pot shots to force their heads down....on MG team even runs away.

Popule meus, quid tibi feci, aut in quo contristavi te? responde mihi: Ego eduxi te de domo servitutis in terram promissionis: et tu me descendentem e sinu Patris eduxisti ad mortem Crucis. Ego te plantavi vineam meam speciosissimam; et tu factus es mihi nimis amara. Ego te potavi aqua salutis de terra: et tu me potasti felle et aceto. Quid ultra debui tibi facere et non feci?

If a swarm of ants...

Post by Orzel Bialy »

can overcome and eat an elephant to the bone....imagine was a swarm of baby birds can do! LOL. Your troops will have bomblets dropping all over them and their tanks. :p

To the north there are 88's...and infantry

In the center tanks and AC's...and infantry

To south there are 88's....and infantry

Hmmmm....looks like a pattern to me. Anyways, I manage to take out a couple of the German "eyes" that were poking around to the south.

Nice of you to provide me with a bore-sited trenchline...however, there aren't as many "birds" there as you think. They are currently elsewhere...waiting to drop in other places later. ;)

What would an Orzel Defensive Battle...

Post by Orzel Bialy »

be without mines? :p

Just as in history...a trench dotted with infantry units has not been effective in slowing down armor....which is what I expected. ;)

However...the supporting German infantry have taken some losses as they try to advance behind their panzers. Several MG teams and even a couple engineer units were forced to retreat as they tried to flow into the breaches made by the panzers.

The trick now will be keeping the German infantry seperated long enough for me to deal with those panzers! ;)

Many Poles Die???

Post by Orzel Bialy »

Hmmm....I shall have to check with HQ on that one...since you have just pushed through my lightly defended "trip-wire" line.

I see that a Pzkfw III has come to grief...it's crew bailing out and taking some MG fire for their trouble.

Elsewhere it seems that a couple 88's have found themselves the target of suppression fire...as well as some engineers who waltzed out infront of a MG nest.

Glad to hear you cracked a smile because of this little fight...won't you turn into a pumpkin for doing so though??? :p
