Some newbie questions... and greetings!

Post by daddog »

Hello Gents! :)

Started playing UV a few weeks ago and am starting my 2nd PBM game. Really enjoying myself and have started reading the forums. Bax who had a fun thread a few weeks ago as an IJN sailor is a good friend of mine. He and I are in a squad together in Aces High. Anyway, enough of that... ;)

Playing the first Scenario "Coral Sea" and have hit the Base NW of Port Morseby, Lae. The results were:
Airbase - 2 hits
Runway - 7 hits
Port - 1 hit
Port supply - 4 hits

How does this transfer into information I can use? For example how many runway hits for it to be reduced to unusable? Is each hit a %? What is the difference between Airbase hits and runway hits? How about Port hits and Port supply hits? What effect will this have on the evil empire of the sun? ;)

One more question. How can I tell when a C47 squadron is done transferring troops? I have one squad set to transfer a base force, but can’t tell when it is done.

Thanks in advance!

Airbase Service: Planes repair slower

Runway: Planes take off not as likely

Airbase Supply: a percentage of supply was lost.

Port: Ships unload slower

Port supply: A percentage of fuel was lost.

Each with be a percentage hits and damage caused.

How much is good? Depends on what you hit it with. A 20mm round doesn't equal a 500 pounder so number of hits is a bit misleading.

Recon will show wear and tear on the base as percentage damaged...

C-47 question: when it's done, you'll see a message "xxx merging" when the last group gets flown in.

You do?

I transport troops all the time as the Allies from Aussie bases to PM by C-47, and never ONCE have I seen that merge message.

Each supply or fuel hit used up 10% of the supply or fuel -- cumulative. For example, three supply hits would use up 10% + 10% of the next 90% + 10% of the next 80% for a total of 27% of the original supply used up. The most I've ever gotten is 10 hits which uses up 55% of the supply.
