RHS Level Two Test One: Closed

Post by el cid again »

We need to test the new paradigm with the additional off map ports and links,
and their impacts upon on map operations. We also need to test for play
balance an entirely new scenario with significant changes to the order of battle
for Japan, mitigated by somewhat better postured initial Allied starting dispositions.
For example, the Marine Legation is no longer a separate unit. It has been removed,
and its squads added to the 4th Marine Regiment, which also has its formation redefined to include them. The SS President Harrison is no longer in the East
China Sea, but is at Manila, having returned them there. USS Finch is no longer at the bottom of the Formosa Strait, but also is in Manila, having left three days sooner.
Three Insect class gunboats, formerly in Hong Kong, have joined their half sisters at Singapore (and been similarly fitted for ASW). Most RN warships in the South China Sea area are at Palembang. Most USN warships in the Philippines are not at Balikpapan. Most Dutch warships are off South Sumatra, except for Tromp and the four older Admiralen I class destroyers, who are returning from patrol in the Eastern Java Sea. CLs Sumatra and Java have been replaced by newer Endracht and Kijkduin. Van Heemskerck was completed sooner to her original design and has had time to reach NEI, as have the few Admiralen II class destroyers which are en route in other scenarios. So the Dutch squadron is somewhat larger and has more firepower than before. The Philippine Army is more mobilized, and will complete mobilization by early January. The Philippine Commonwealth Air Force has been somewhat better equipped, with slightly less obsolete fighters and bombers (formerly belonging to the FEAF), and has a full bomber squadron instead of a cadre bomber flight. Most other changes need time to show up at the front lines.

RE: RHS Level Two Test One: New Scenario 129

Post by el cid again »

This scenario uses RHS Level II, featuring an expanded extended map system.
That map system is not compatible with other forms of AE, including RHS
Level I. The link below provides an installer which will get you the files
that need to go on top of a clean install of AE. Copy the SCEN and ART folders
to the corresponding AE SCEN and ART folders (unless they installed there -
which may happen if you use default folders). Copy the pwhexe.dat, pwzlink.dat
and pwzone.dat files to the top level AE folder. Browse the RHSDOCUMENTATION
folder for MS Word documents and MS Excel spreadsheets explaining RHS concepts.

Be SURE to put the pwhexe.dat file in the top level AE folder - it is NEW a
and IMPORTANT.

Scenario 129, by the nature of its rationale, has the Allies somewhat more organized
at the start of the campaign. You might say the naval forces are more 'refused' to borrow
a term from military operations - less vulnerable to first turn losses when the onslaught begins.
