Scenario Editor Error

Post by maple61 »

Error message when trying to launch the Scenario Editor:

X The file "" is invalid.

I know I'm to blame on this as I'm editing a new Nation, but where should I be looking for the blank string...?
Is there a hard limit to the number of Nation folders...?
Thanks,
A "Zed" Baird

Zed,

Make sure the folder is in the Data folder. It has to be an XLS file. Make sure under the National tab that the Country Name (row 54) is the same as the file name without the ".xls" extension. See if that works. If not you can also PM or email me the file and I can take a look at it and see what is going on.
OTS is looking forward to Southern Storm getting released!

To clarify Capn Darwin’s post and to save your sanity, the data file MUST be saved as an Excel 97-2003 Workbook (*.xls) format. If the file is saved with any other versions of Excel, it will NOT work!
Cheers.

We will have to look at why the import routine is being restricted on our end. I don't remember it being an issue as much in the past.

Yes, it has always been ".xls" (Excel 97 - 2003) format. The .xlsx file format is hugely different but support for it has already been built into Southern Storm. For now please just keep using the old .xls format and all will be fine.
