Objective Burma

Post by Trugrit »

I’m looking to pick a fight in the Far East.

This is my Hollywood variation on Andy Mac’s small map scenario Mountbatten’s Folly.
tm.asp?m=3493528 – modified.
(Note: If you’ve had problems with this scenario locking-up; I’ve fixed those problems)

The strategic situation is similar to Andy Mac’s with the following exception:
In late December 1943 Mountbatten is severely injured in a plane crash while visiting the
Burma front and Churchill takes a huge political risk and places Major General Alistair Jamison,
A rogue and insubordinate but hard fighting general in command of Southeast Asia.

The scenario looks on the surface like an all land game but it has great potential for intense
Naval combat based on where Andy Mac has drawn the lines and located the British Hubs.
An Allied amphibious invasion is likely for operation Zipper and the sub game should be fun.

I’ve made a few modifications, tweaked victory points; added/moved some units, fixed
Some problems and adjusted a few other things that bothered me. Some of my changes
Are cosmetic to get the actors I want on stage but it does not depart very far from Andy Mac’s intent.

As for Errol Flynn - as a kid I always wanted to be the rogue hero who wins a beautiful
Woman’s heart while at the same time saving his country from ignominious defeat.
Flynn could do all that and then relax with a glass of fine single malt scotch.

I think Juliette Binoche would be good for British morale and every high adventure needs a
Beautiful woman worth fighting for and the Allies may have to do some fighting to save her unit.

I’ll play either side - your choice.
(You can examine both sides for as long as you like before you decide)
Standard Map with stacking limits, Current Beta, One day turns, Win on points only.
I prefer no house rules; but house rules agreed to by mutual consent O.K.
Beginners are welcome with the reservation that you may need to be computer savvy as a
Separate game install might be needed if you have other games running on a single install.

I’ll send you all the art files you need if you want to see how my variation looks the way I see it.
This includes my selected Epic Sea, Japanese and Chinese (In-Game) music files which also work
Well for the full map scenarios. I had to add some drum music to a Burma scenario.

I’m retired and I like to play in the mornings from 6 AM to around 12 PM EDT-USA (I’m minus 5 hours UTC)
http://www.timeanddate.com/time/map/ ……..…I can do multiple turns in that 6 hour time frame.
One turn a day is O.K. but I will give preference to other retired players in a compatible time zone.

Many thanks to Andy Mac for all the fine work he has done. Bravo, Bravo Zulu.

For Andy Mac I’ve included the 51st Highland Division in the scenario transferred in from the ETO.
(Side Note: 1944 was a leap year. It had 366 days)

I have an Allied opponent and it would be nice to have a Japanese opponent as well.

Anyone interested in learning more about the Japanese side?
Anyone interested in learning how to set up a separate game install? I can help with that.

PM me and I will answer all.
