E.T.A. Endless Tales of Availability [:D]

They ran into some unexpected problems I guess and they don't really want to give a date that might be missed again. Some time next year. Oh wait, it is next year. Some time this year. Rumor says Q1 or Q2.

I can't say when the release date was but it's obvious that we missed it. I have no idea when TOAW IV will be released but I do know
that there's at least one bug that needs to be found and fixed before the release and Thomas and I are working day and night, literally,
to find this bad boy. We've found two examples of it already, one of them just this morning, so things are looking up. It's up to Ralph
now I guess.

No, Bob said end of October. I'm sure everyone knows that a date from a developer is a shot in the dark.

That is not what I said. I said we had to have the code finished by the end of October if it was to be released by the end of the year, and the code wasn't finished by the end of October.

We still have no new estimate of when it will be released.

Ah, could not find the post so I just put what my old brain had stored. But hey, I got October right. [;)]

I wouldn't publish a completion estimate the way this thing gets kicked down the road.

After all these years of gaming, I still have not played an Art of War game. Are they as good as people proclaim or is it just a core group of die hard fans that keep it afloat?

Hi Jason,
In all honestly and sincerity I really feel very sorry for you because you have no idea on what you have missed on. I purchased TOAW 1 back in 1998/99 and was hooked. TOAW is not every bodies "cup of tea" but if you like strategy type war games then it is the best. Over the pass 30 years I have owned over 100 war games and I have always come back to TOAW and it is the only game that I play now. I am on the TOAW 4 beta testing team currently playing FITE2, 6kms hexes and you can break down your divisions to battalion and company level. Once all the bugs are ironed out TOAW 4 will be worth every cent that you pay for it. It will be the last war game that I buy unless there is a TOAW 5 down the track. Your only decision is do you purchase TOAW 3 knowing that TOAW 4 is coming out in the near (??) future or do you wait until TOAW 4 is released.

I was also a first-day buyer of TOAW in 1998.

Let's be clear: It was Talonsoft that did that, not Matrix Games.

So, I bought a copy of TOAW III from Matrix many moons ago but no longer have access to it ( no receipts from 10+ years ago ) and now that my kids are finally all in their late teens, I actually have time to play it again. I would prefer to get TOAW IV, but if it won't be released this year - I might as well just buy another copy of Ver. III.

So, back to the OP - do we have an updated eta?

Ralph & team are still working on it. There were 9 updates in April and 2 so far in May. There is light at the end of the tunnel and it is not the oncoming train. I know it is hard waiting but hang in there. TOAW 4 is worth the wait. And No I can not answer any questions. Answering questions is above my pay grade.
