Led Zeppelin on DVD

Since this is a primarily male group, and many of you older guys grew up listening to Led Zeppelin, listen--you must get this DVD. I bought it today, and it features live video from this band's entire career, with absolutely phenomenal sound -- this is mixed for 5.1 surround, but I can only hear it in standard stereo--nevertheless, those who have naysayed Zep's ability to capture their studio recordings live are missing the definitive answer, and now we have it. From the early TV shows in 1969 to the Knebworth Festival in 1979, it's all here. The older baby boomers among us, me included, will have our wishes granted with the official release of this frequently-bootlegged video material. I hope that the younger guys who were born after Zeppelin ended will pick up on this , and rediscover the power and the glory of hard rock n roll as it was meant to be played, and so often imitated, even today, 23 years after their last public performance.

I have the 4-CD box set from 1994, plus the 2-CD set released a couple of years later--that's every studio recording Led Zep ever issued, plus some rarities. The 2-DVD set, just released yesterday, I bought for $20 plus tax at a retail outlet. The DVD set has shipped quadruple-platinum at US retailers alone. The 3-CD live set from 1972 is also shipping as a platinum release. It retailed at $21. At these prices, Led Zeppelin could end up as one of the best album sellers of 2003. That's pretty ironic, considering they played their last live gig on July 7 1980, in Berlin.

I bought an ABBA and a Queen Greatest Hits video dvd recently.

Want so many others.

Music today just sounds all wrong to my ears somehow

I miss the solid sound of 60s through 80s rock. Something disppeared from music during the 90's Bands just don't sound the same anymore.

The guitar work is wrong the drumming is wrong.

Heck I have KaZaa, but I basically never use it for music. I don't want most of what has been made in the last 10 years, free or otherwise.

10 disc is all Ill ever need....and its arranged by jimmy page....and yes that makes a difference

The 5 disc is 60 and worthy...but not arranged by page...and doesnt do justice to one of the 20 greatest rock bands ever

Yeah, I got the Jimmy Page special edition 10 disc box set too... the one where the outside of the box has b&w pictures of zeppelin trusses, frames and spars... looks like a zeppelin junkyard...

I saw it on an endcap while cruising through a music store and I knew I had to get it... cost me about $130.00 or so, but it was worth every penny... I only wish that it had included all the song lyrics as well... I'm always making up stuff when I sing along... hahahahahahaha

Anyhow, it is now a permanent fixture in my car... looks like I'll have to get the new DVD next...

Just bought the new Led Zep DVD + 3 CD Live Album "How The West Was Won" on Ebay as combo package for $48.00 + $5.00 shipping... not too bad...

Arrived Saturday... quality is excellant!... havin' some fun now... Bonzo goes absolutely crazy on the drum solo.... and, I can finally see Page working that bow string on the Gibson... hahahahahahaha

Plus, I'm finally learning the CORRECT lyrics.... hahahahahahahaha

Is on disc one, in the extra clips (the Tous en Scene segment)--it's a 1969 TV special in which the audience is composed of mostly older folks and young kids. I have no idea who booked Zep for this show, but as soon as the band plows into "Communication Breakdown", the crowd is stunned, terrified even, with some people holding their hands over their ears. At stage left, you can see a Salvation Army band (?!) that is supposed to go on after Zeppelin. The audience looks as if they are expecting Lucifer himself to appear in a puff of smoke, and some of them look like they're ready to run screaming for the exits. It's definitely the strangest and funniest segment of the video collection. I actually laughed out loud at the surrealness of it. It was after this episode that the band decided to do no more TV appearances.

You gotta remember the BBC in those days.......a little of everything.

The BBC played things in 30 min to 60 min sets,classical,pop.......whatever.

So yea Zep prob did freak em out....even on the radio.
