The worst damage suffered by our surface ships was to their ammo stores. Kalao was like a one-ship task force in the early going, setting three ships afire in rapid succession. Submarine Sablefish was hit hard and will repair in dry dock at Nago.

There is one enemy unit remaining at Hong Kong with almost 8,000 troops. A nearly full attack tomorrow will certainly wipe out that last unit. We also attack at Chaochow (on the coast), at Changsha, and at Neikiang tomorrow, plus the continuing zombie elimination campaigns. At Neikiang we have only one unit in hex for the attack with others likely arriving tomorrow, but every day counts in the race to cut off the enemy host retreating down the Tsuyung road. The Chinese 75th Corps will attack by itself to either dislodge the defenders outright or ramp up their disruption for an attack by greater forces the following day.

Malaybalay is empty and will be seized in the morning, and with retreat to there cut off the next attack at Davao is tomorrow. Our units at Davao are a little low on supply but there is plenty at Dadjangas to draw from plus more unloading. There are also >21,000 supply at Cotabato, so plenty is nearby, it just isn't moving well.

The armour from the Malaya campaign has begun arriving at Lang Son and will start crossing into China tomorrow. I am thinking about committing most of it to pass through Ichang. That should prove interesting as Hangkow recons with well over 500 AFV and Wuchang with more than 100. Tank battles!

The armor and other forces currently fighting in Hong Kong will move to Nanchang and push east, through the rough terrain to capture Nanking and nearby cities. With the exception of one division that requires R&R they will all move as soon as that last Imperial unit is destroyed.

Trying to keep the pressure on all across the front so that the defense cannot concentrate to stop everything we have going on. I am pretty sure there are strong forces waiting in the rough forest terrain on the way to Nanking, but I think "Task Force Hong Kong" can blow through them.

The force we have assaulting Changsha is probably adequate for that task, but is too small for Wuchang and Hankow, which both have larger garrisons.

Likewise right now there is one unit of ~2,000 troop in Ichang and we have a division that will cross the river in two days. If that division can also cross the next river into a defensive position in the forest and hold it until the armour arrives in 1 1/2 weeks or so, then they can bypass the Wuchang/Hankow positions and cut off those defenders. If Task Force Hong Kong pushes through the Nanking area in timely fashion, there will be massive amounts of Allied armor on the plains.

The first of the formerly trapped Chinese Army units is boarding trains at Tuyun as we speak. A number of those units are heading out to garrison duty where I'm sure they will look for hot baths and soft beds after camping in the mountains for so many months. Some of the large Chinese Army units that repatriated through Indochina are holding cities as garrison until relieved, as are some very well equipped Allied brigades. There's a coiled spring unleashing energy into the invaders.

Indeed part of the 'housekeeping chore in late 1944 is assigning the garrisons to the newly liberated cities, and the diminishing nature of the Chinese forces as more and more of them like the soft bed life - alternatively as has been mentioned you can ignore garrisoning and take 1 VP hit per move per city left to lawless anarchy.

The majority of the combat power is bypassing that area completely.

The forces going into the Chungking plain should be adequate to take first Chengtu and probably then Chungking, provided that some air support is provided. Chengtu seems to have about 42k defenders, and I am trying to stop another 22k from getting there. Chungking has ~63-64k troops in place already. I figure it might take a little time, but I don't want to budget more forces for that area.

Those are the British CVE. The British CV are at Hong Kong, but they are all in good shape. One QE BB is in Hong Kong to get some damage repaired. The fast BB could use a little repair but are mostly OK. The USN non-Iowa fast BB need some minor repairs (I think they are all over 10 sys) but they won't get it with everything gathering for Hokkaido.
