Today the war changed dramatically.
First, the Allies are in route to crossing the India-Burma border into Burma. Operation Land Shark is not only a major offensive, it is only the second Allied Offensive of the war (the only prior offensive was taking Marcus Island). I am pleased that the Allies are invading Burma prior to the fall of Colombo and Chungking.
Second, I am not pleased that El Lobo's 26th Evil Sun Division amphibious assaulted Adak Island today. Adak Island has several units on the Island, a Fort Level of 4, and over 111,000 supply. However the AV is only around 180. Adak is key to the Allied Operation Sea Shark scheduled to lift off June 1, 1943. Along with Pearl Harbor, Hilo, and Dutch Harbor, Adak is to be one of the port-staging areas for the invasion of the Marianas Islands. The Allies have invested considerable time, effort, and assets to building up Adak. The question is whether to lock and load on Adak or to accept the eventual losses there, and to take Adak back in a couple months when the Japanese Carriers aren't there?

Attu/Adak are sideshows. You don't need them to push into the Marianas. Your opponent has invested heavily and may not have an easy time taking it at fort level 4. I wouldn't wager the crown jewels to defend it but it should provide some opportunity for some good hit and runs and sub attacks. If he can't get Adak quickly then he will have to push further reinforcements in. It is these, not the warships you want to target...insofar as you are able. You will want to beef up Dutch Harbour and Kodiak. Does Dutch H have any airfields yet?
With a number of his CVs so far away on an Alaskan cruise you should reoccupy some other bases in New G. Did your boys grab Rabaul yet? If it was me I would probe around the Moluccas. By leaving NG alone he provides you a good opportunity to threaten oil in Tarakan and Balikpapan.

I believe the subs in question are in yards after being damaged on a Kurile operation.
Which is not to take away from the surprise...

Bif-
The S submarines had only recently returned to the Attu port after sweeping the Kurile Islands for Japanese ships.
The problem was, when the submarines arrived at Attu and were disband to repair minor systems damage, the submarines were automatically put out of commission to refit for 7 days. The submarines were 4 days from finishing their refit when El Lobo sent in his Battleships.
It looks like either 3 or 4 of the S Type submarines will sink prior to making it to a port to repair some system damage before attempting to send to Pearl or Prince Rupert for repairs.

Yes, the Allies can still invade the Marianas Islands jumping-off from Pearl. However, I wanted to speed up the loading of troops, supplies, etc. by using Adak and dutch Harbor too. We are still a long ways off from June 1, 1943. The Allies may take back Adak before Operation Sea Shark launches. The Allies may also take back Marcus Island prior to June 1, 1943.
I agree, to try to reinforce either Attu or Adak now would not be wise considering his carriers and surface combat fleets are sitting so close to Attu and Adak. I am reinforcing Dutch Harbor with another Infantry Regiment, Calvary Regiment, and Marine Defense Battalion. The Infantry Regiment had left Pearl a few days ago bound for Adak Island. The Infantry Regiment has been diverted to Dutch Harbor. The Calvary Regiment and Marine Defense Battalion are loading at Pearl. When these units reach Dutch Harbor the AV will be over 500. Dutch Harbor does have a Level 1 Airfield and a Level 3 Fort; both are building and close to rising a level each.
As I type this, a Base Force is loading at Tahiti bound for Rabaul. I will follow-up with an infantry battalion, and no doubt an AA unit. After that, I will try to rummage a Catalina from somewhere.

2.) The Allies destroy 6 Japanese aircraft and damage 7 in China.
3.) The Allies destroy a handful of Japanese Infantry squads at Adak Island.
4.) Allied Bombers from Anchorage have flown to Kodiak and tomorrow will fly to Dutch Harbor. On the 19th, the bombers will bomb Japanese ground forces on Adak island.

Anachro-
For the most part, I plan to go around El Lobo's "Meat Grinder."
On June 1, 1943 Operation Sea Shark will launch with the simultaneous invasion of each of the eight Marianas Islands. The Allies will have eight plus infantry divisions with all supporting units and tons of supply and fuel. The Allies might even send the 9th Australian Division to help; that would make it 9 plus divisions.
Once the Marianas Islands are secure, Sea Shark will head for Formosa.
Once Formosa is secure, the Allies will concentrate on getting supply to China and setting up a Naval Blockade running from the Marianas to Formosa. In the meantime, the Allies will be driving through China toward Manchukua and Korea.
In 1944, the Allies will concentrate on taking Babeldaod, Okinawa, the Bonin Islands, Manchukua, and Korea.
Of course, if circumstances permit, objectives will be taken sooner.
The basic idea is to avoid El Lobo's tight Southern Defenses, set up a Naval Blockade to strangle Japan Proper from receiving troops, aircraft, supply and resources from the South, to free the Russians, and bombard Japan Proper from Korea.
Not sure how it will all work out, but it should be interesting and fun.
Best Regards,
-Terry

El Lobo's Imperial Japanese War Mongers shoved the brave Chinese out of the forest due South of Chungking. Lack of supply makes it impossible to counter-attack. The final days of Chungking are upon on us. The Chinese have held out longer than I had expected they could with little supply and against an overwhelming experienced army hell bent on conquering all of China. If the Chinese can hold Chungking until December 6, 1942, I will be immensely pleased.

Combat Report
for
October 23, 1942
The majority of the combat today centered around El Lobo's continuing invasion of Adak Island. The Japanese are taking a beating from Adak Island Coastal Guns. El Lobo is in the process of landing his 3rd Infantry Division. Consequently, unless Adak Island is sent reinforcements, Adak Island will fall into Japanese hands. Though it hurts to lose so many good ground forces at Adak Island, I doubt reinforcements will be sent considering El Lobo's Carriers and Surface Combat Fleets are protecting the Japanese amphibious assaults.
