Allied Corps vs 42,43,44-45

Post by Suul »

What is the difference between the Panzer Corps-Allied Corps and the three US Corps titles, 42, 43 and 44-45?

Is one the combination of the other three?

Thanks

Allied Corps includes British scenarios, allows play as Germans with (I think) fewer scenarios. US Corps is exclusively American with more scenarios at a smaller scale, i.e. units may be battalions, not regiments. Again, I'm not sure about the scale; it just feels that way.

Here's a good explanation of the differences by Avery Abernethy at http://grogheads.com/?p=1652

"Unlike either core game, this add-on forces the player to largely follow the general course of the war. For example, if the player’s forces manage to stomp Poland and France in 1939-1940, they will still head off to attack the USSR. Even if the player manages to conquer Moscow and take Stalingrad, the German forces will retreat back across Russia and Poland and the player will eventually be fighting in Germany herself."

Suul is asking about the three brand new US DLC campaigns, not the original grand campaign. The Avery Abernethy review doesn't apply to this. [:)]

But it does! The essence of the quote, that the scenarios follow the historical trail, still holds.

Sure does apply. Enjoying the game but interesting that you can do very well in a scenario taking all objectives. Then the narrative for the next scenario talks about how your losses were so high, the assault is coming and when the new scenario starts many of the objectives you took are now back in enemy hands more or less giving the situation of the historical campaign rather than one based on how well you did in the last game scenario.

You do get to keep your units with whatever experience they built up.
