Ok I think I have found a few issues. Desaix DDs 13.2 mm ammo is only 1. Algerie CA only has 4 main guns. Suffern CA only has 4 main guns and the torpedo ammo is off also. Lefier TB has all 100mm guns in the rear.

If you make a TF with a Desaix DD, it will then have 36 ammo for its 13.2 mm AA guns.

I thought about this after I posted (I was on my way to my Lokasenna turn and an invasion of Truk), and I think the pwhex file controls all or mostly all of what would be different. Long time since I looked at the BMPs in the Art folder. If it works with the DBB stock art I can easily do that.

If playing Sc 72 (Russia) not active, these units still at same start point as Sc 71 ?

Curious as to the rationale for the French Navy to continue getting ships throughout the conflict ? (Other than because you could .... ;>)

The tortured rationale in the universe of Focus Pacific is that France started it's rearmament earlier than it did historically. Forward thinking French military planners realized that French ship-building and air-craft building capacity wouldn't be able to produce enough new ships or aircraft in time for the coming conflict, and turned to the United States to build ships under contract, as well as contracting U.S. aircraft manufacturers to produce French designs.

As a result, the U.S. ship building and aircraft production industries ramped up production years earlier than they did historically, which translates into the U.S. reaching higher total production numbers earlier in the war.

Focus Pacific also assumes that instead of the tragedy at Mers el Kebir (Operation Catapult), Admiral Gensoul compromises with the British and is able to preserve his fleet by sailing it to Tahiti, where it is later joined by the remainder of the French navy. In Focus Pacific, the scuttling of Toulon never occurs, because the bulk of French naval forces flee to ports in New Caledonia and French Polynesia rather than being under Vichy control.

Yes, it works with the DBB stock art without issue.

Desaix Class Ammo

Luckily this is a ship error and not a class error, so those ships will reload to 36. Fixed in the editor, will be fixed via patch ASAP.

Algerie Guns

Not quite sure how this happened, it should have a total of 8 tubes. Fixed in the editor, will be fixed via patch ASAP.

Suffren Guns

Similar issue - ship class is correct, but not the ship itself. Fixed in the editor, will be fixed via patch ASAP.

Couple of questions .....

Many of the additional divisions begin in Manchuko, with 7,000 more AV on hand there than in stock. Others appear as additional reinforcements throughout the game, and others are available at some key Japanese ports and bases. For example, in stock, Cam Ranh Bay starts with 333 AV in hex, while in Focus Pacific, it stats with over 1,500. Saigon? 98 AV in stock, 506 in Focus Pacific.

Also, many Japanese units appear with much more punch. For example, on May 1st 1942, Japan receives three independent infantry battalions, with 37 AV ea. In Focus Pacific, these are brigades, with 137 AV each.

As the Japanese player, you have the tools to do more and expand further than in stock. However, the allied player also has the tools to give you much bigger bloody noses if you don't support that expansion very, very well.

I have a game going currently with an older version of Focus Pacific, and my Japanese opponent says that they've run into economic trouble.

For the Japanese player to be successful in Focus Pacific, they need to have the opportunity to expand their economy well-beyond stock. In fact the mod is balanced around the supposition that the Japanese player will be cranking out airframes at a pretty impressive rate.

So, my question to Japanese players is this - is there enough supply, oil and resources in the Home Islands or easily accessible to the home islands to do this? Do I need to add more resources? (If I do, I'd like to add them less in the Home Islands and more in areas that Japan can conquer in early 42. Also, do you have enough shipping to get oil and resources back to the home islands? Do I need to add additional tankers and xAKs so that you can move enough in bulk? Even if I put more resources on the map, if you don't have the ships to move enough into the Home Islands on a regular basis, it's pointless.

In the original version of Focus Pacific, the Home Islands were flush with oil, resources and supply. Unfortunately, that created a situation where Japan had little motivation to take resource rich hexes, and could be content sitting in the Home Islands without taking the DEI.

Any insight or suggestions from Japanese players would be welcome.

Amagi Torp Ammo Issue

This is actually not an ammo issue, but a device issue. This device should be an AA gun, not a torpedo. Fixed in the editor, will fix via patch ASAP.

The Amagi-class BCs should not carry Torpedoes.

IMHO, the Jap player has to start from day one improving his economy, no matter how much he has in the bank at start. Fuel WILL run out. It's pretty embarrassing to be rolling along and suddenly run out of a certain type of engine or airframe because you've neglected to look forward.

IMHO, the Jap player has to start from day one improving his economy, no matter how much he has in the bank at start. Fuel WILL run out. It's pretty embarrassing to be rolling along and suddenly run out of a certain type of engine or airframe because you've neglected to look forward.

The issue seems to be less fuel based and more resource based. The Japanese HI economy is so hungry in Focus Pacific that it eats through its resource pools at a prodigious rate. Moreover, there just isn't enough shipping available to bring in the necessary resources to keep the much hungrier Home Islands fed.

Now, a Japanese player that is more modest in their industry expansion can manage to keep everything fed, but I think that it's important to give a Japanese player the option to go for broke with industry expansion and aircraft production the ability to do so, so here's what I'm doing:

*Increasing starting resources in the Home Islands a bit, but not resource production.
*Vastly increased resource production in Korea, Hokkaido, Sakhalin, Occupied China and the Philippines. This will give Japan the resources it needs to feed its war effort, but those resources must be shipped in to the HI.
*Added 70 additional large capacity xAKs to the Japanese starting OOB. They have relatively short legs but large capacity - perfect for moving resources around the Japanese empire. They can also be converted to tankers staring in June of 42.
*Modestly increased starting engine and aircraft production so fewer HI points have to be invested in expansion.
*Increased Home Island manpower production.

The patch won't affect started games. You may want to ask him to hold off for one day. He'll be happy he did - Japan's economic opportunities will be considerably better in the patch.

Glad to see a new version of this mod. I played the older version a few months ago for a bit and liked what I saw. I'm hoping to start a game of this with an uncle of mine this weekend so get that patch out ASAP. [:D] Time permitting I would love to do an AAR of our game as well since I don't really see any AARs of this mod.

Patch is up.

Patch Notes 1.01a 6/10/16

This patch brings Focus Pacific (Scenarios 71 & 72) to version 1.01 and Patton's Mod (Scenario 75) to version 1.3.

Bug Fixes (All Scenarios)

1) The Amagi Class Battlecruisers had a rack of torpedoes installed in the place of their port AA battery. This has now been fixed, and the Amagi class BCs have their AA suite restored.

2) Desaix Class destroyers didn't start the game with enough reloads. They are now topped off and ready for the fight.

3) Both the Algerie and Suffren class cruisers were missing half of their forward armament. They now have the correct amount of guns.

Feature and Balance Changes (All Scenarios)

1) Japan now starts the game with more aircraft production of key airframes by expanding aircraft factory sizes at bases around the empire. Aircraft affected include the Zero, Jake, Oscar Ia and Ic, Val, Betty, Kate, Nell and Jake. This will allow the Japanese player to reach higher production numbers earlier in the war, as well as reduce the total number of HI points needed to bring production to that level.

2) Increased Home Island starting resources, but not resource generation.

3) Resource generation has been increased at bases all around the Home Islands, allowing Japan to import more resources. Resource generation has been bumped in Hokkaido, Sakhalin, Manchuko, Occupied China, unoccupied China, the Philippines and the DEI.

4) To ensure that Japan has enough shipping to import these resources, Japan now starts with additional xAKs.

5) Increased manpower production.

Feature and Balance Changes, Scenarios 71 & 72 only

France starts the war with some additional xAKs, xAPs and minesweepers.

Feature and Balance Changes, Scenario 75 only

1) Adjusted a few LCU's to locations that are more historical:
a) 24th ID fully at Pearl Harbor
b) 25th ID, 34th Reg. at San Francisco, the rest at Pearl Harbor
c) Adjust the Americal Div starting locations and dates

2) Added a little naval support to select British and Dutch base forces

3) Removed Allied Aircraft Purchase system bases, as Scenario 75 doesn't use the aircraft purchase system.

4) Added Prince Rupert RCN base force
