France send out one convoy escort (Cape Verde Basin).

FAA reconnaissance spots a group of Italian submarines that have taken temporary shelter in the undefended port of La Rochelle. HMS Furious launches a dozen Swordfish from 816 Squadron and the venerable "stringbags" set about their business.....

CW bombs Rome. (6+1 -> No effect)

No ground strikes.

USSR rail 11th infantry from Persia to Novgorodand CW rail 3rd infantry from Birmingham to Liverpool.

The Indian militia relocate from Palestine to Beirut.

China orders the Kunming Militia to advance into French Indo-China. China also make minor adjustments of their lines but this is enough to disorganize several units, including their HQ.

The Soviet Union move a few units towards the Finnish border.

CW debark 2nd Infantry to Casablanca.

China has been studying the Japanese combat tactics for a while and decide to train the militia first. At once they want to try their new skill and charges.

Will Umezu provide HQ support for the 2nd SNLF Division?

Orm in our games of MWIF your strategic bombing was delivered with pinpoint accuracy about 90% of the time. Can I respectfully ask you to use the "same wrist technique" as that employed against me when throwing the Strategic Bombing dice please? [:D]

I've been close to useless with strategy bombing in all my games except when you have been on the opposite side. I think you jinxed me in those games. [;)]

About Chinese attack...

Is there a CVP left for ground support? What kind of odds you get if Japs use 1 point ground support (is it possible to be 100% sure that Japan is not going to suffer a loss)?

There is one Japanese CV left with one point of ground support available. (I must confess I didn't even check for it [:D])

If one point is added then the attack is on the 1:2 table. If the HQ support would lover it one additional odds the attack is still done on the 1:2 table but with a -1 on the die roll.

RAC 11.16.5 Resolving attacks
....
Subtract 1 from the roll for each odds level below 1:2.

With river crossing and Chinese attack weakness it is 1:4 attack?

If so, no HQ support and blitz, thanks [;)]

No.

The Chinese unit is a 2 strength that gets halved to 1 for the river and to 0.5 for attack weakness. 0.5 is rounded to 1 before calculating the odds. So the attack is 1:1 if Japan adds no support at all. 1:2 with either successful HQ support or ground support. 1:2 -1 with both air support and defensive HQ support that is successful. (remember that HQ support is not automatic)

Only ground support, no HQ support. I choose blitz table.

The attack was a complete failure. And I am pretty sure that there is a bug here but since it didn't change the result I will not go back. Although I was confused when I saw that there was a fractional odds roll for this attack since I didn't think it would be needed. And stunned when I saw the result of that roll.

Anyway. The Japanese charge attack seems to work poorly for China. [:D]

Mar/Apr '40
Impulse #7 (Allied)

USSR rebase two bombers toward Finland and two bombers to Persia.

No reorganization.

The turn continues with a roll of 6.
