Production planning messed up

Post by AndreasI »

Hey

When preliminary production planning is about to start (starting with Russia) something goes wrong. I get one windows error saying that an application wants to send me an e-mail. In-game the interface also looks wrong and if I open the production planning window and manage to press "close" I instantly go to stay-at-sea procedure before I check the other powers production.

For some reason the filesize is huge when it comes to the GAM-file.

The program hit a "MadExcept" which is a program crash for some reason.

When a MadExcept takes place the program tries to send information about it to a Matrix email address but this can often fail depending on your email settings (or maybe you don't even have email on the PC).

Typical game save files are indeed large - 8 to 9 Megs. This is because all the unit descriptions are included in the game save... every time. They zip down to about 1.6 Megs which you need to do anyway to post them here because only jpg and zip files may be uploaded.

I'm not able to restore this gamesave. That's to say: the production planning form doesn't pop up (which it should do), so I'm stuck immediately.

Do you have the autosave from the Partisan phase available as a gamesave? Perhaps that will give us some more information what is going wrong the moment the preliminary production phase starts.

I will try to get that up next time I'm at the computer. My gamesaves are about 160mb for this particular game which leads me to believe something happened.

The gamesave you put in the forums looks to be normal sized (2-3 MB is normal for a GAM file in MWIF).

Also want to show a quick screenshot of some of the filesizes of the current autosaves, is that size normal for those phases? I haven't progressed the game in question further so they are for the most part related to the above game I believe.

No, that doesn't look normal too me. Normal would be that a gamesave has about 8 - 11 MB (zipped it is about 2-3 MB). I can't understand this.

Also, I can't restore the gamesave Partisan you send me. I got a Mad Except during restoring which I forwarded to Steve.

I'm out of options, I'm afraid.

Yes, something is seriously wrong with getting file sizes like that. Have you installed any of the mods?

You may have to do a fresh reinstall of the game.

I'll investigate this. The problem is with copying a duplicate of s resource path during initialization. It appears it might be in an infinite loop and making repeated copies until it runs out of memory.
