The Meat Grinder

Post by rico21 »

My plan(turn 0)

1- I do not know the enemy device (?)
2-My goal is a minor victory (23vp)
3-Victory points by conquest will be insufficient (2x6 = 12vp)
4-I must destroy tanks (5vpx (5?) = 25)
5-My initial forces will make a reconnaissance in force ( infantry + 3 panzer iv)
6-My reinforcements turn 2 (3 panzer III) track down the enemy tanks
7-Gott mit uns!

And you what is your plan?

Just finished playing the meat grinder as the Germans.
Moved the infantry up and at the end of turn 3 I was very uncertain how it was going to turn out .Start of the 4th.
One of my 50mm AFV`s eliminated one of the Russian AFV`s , kept it`s RoF and took a second tank out ,with it`s RoF
still intact , 3rd shot at infantry in a VP zone and broke them all :). 4th shot and MA broke :) . Odds? Very slim
I would guess :)
That 1 turn gave the infantry the opportunity to advance and capture .
It really is a fantastic game , and the contributions by the ppl making these mods, scenarios is outstanding.

I am glad that you liked it.

In play testing it, I was having a very hard time making the game competitive for the Russians. But after giving up on trying to be absolutely true to the original ASL victory conditions, and just boiling it down to just a few victory locations, did the game become the meat grinder that the table top version is.
The game is afoot!

I still have not played "The Meat Grinder", but I'm eagerly looking forward to give it a try.
