Free Copy Kudos!

Post by BeirutDude »

Let me say, "Thank you for putting out a free evaluation copy!" I've been on the fence on this title for some time. I like the Pacific concept but it looks too Panzer General for me (I loath Panzer General, I WANT to like it but I just can't). So now I can take a look. Still not sure it's for me, but at least I'll know. Thank you and I wish more folks would do this.

I do not like Panzer General either, but I LOVE this title, I really do. They may look alike, but play differently.

Thanks both.

If you are Steam users, we'd really appreciate it if you could review the game on Steam.

A few users have recently got the wrong end of the stick about what exactly you get for free, and have left negative reviews.

Having dithered for a while over this, I got the freebie version and will buy all the DLC at the next Matrix sale. The price seems a little high at the moment and I have other stuff to play so I can cope with the wait.

Got it direct not Steam otherwise I would have reviewed very positively - both the game and the sales model. Shame it has been misunderstood. Have you thought of explaining it more clearly in words of 1 syllable - though it seems very clear to me?

While it does look and play like Panzer General/Corps. It is a little more as I'd call it Panzer General/Corps on Steroids.

There's some new options and perks after each skirmish if you win or lose. You get a military improvement or unimprovment. Like winning the opening battle and downing 5 jap planes you get a reduction of japanese experienced pilots entering the game. If you lose 3 battleships your ship production is reduced for upcoming battles.

Support units can fire twice in a turn, once on offense and then on defense if in support range of another unit that can use it. That's a twist from Panzer General/Corps.

There are radar detectors in this game so you don't always know where a plane or ship is you have to have a radar unit nearby to get a shadow of that plane or ship to show up on the map. There are radar ships that detect submarines as well. Panzer General/Corps you always see de plane de plane. [:D]

The only thing that makes me take a step back from it is that it's static scenarios and battles. I like random maps and oob's in all the new games I play so it's sort of a must for me. While it was a nice idea to just make a full war campaign out of it, it's still on rails as far as I'm concerned. Win or lose you'll still be playing the same maps and oob's save for the few improvements or downgrades from winning or losing.

If I were going to recommend it I would recommend it over Panzer General and Panzer Corp for all the neat new stuff it has. To not recommend it though because it has no random map genarator or random oob generator.

IIRC PzC doesn't have random map generation either?

Either way, we're hoping to finally complete this feature - called "Skirmish Mode" - after the upcoming Winter War release.

I know that's why I wouldn't recommend Panzer General or Panzer Corp either. [:D]

So any Chance that this Game Series will get a "Great Strategy" AddOn, where we also get an economic/Research/diplo part and a whole World Map, like it is in HOI IV , but please not that simple like that dumbed down HOI IV Version !

Never understood that this haven't been done from ANY GAMEDEVELOPER, as it would be unique on the game market for roundbased games (HOI is RTS) !!!

Anyway played all Panzer Game Clones ever published and at the Moment I like this the most,
well done DEVS and maybe you are the Team, who could handle a Great Strategy approache :-)

Wish you the best ...
