Torpedoes Not being dropped..

Has anyone noticed that torpedoes planes are dropping regular bombs instead of torpedoes????

my ships are fully stocked.. I have the torp. bombers set at 4000' and on torp. for ordanace.. they will drop
torp's the first time out, but many times, my ships are still fully stocked but the planes don't launch torpedoes???

For example, I have the Enterprice & Hornet out together in TF, and they might launch 10 torpedoes first time out,

then still showing plenty of torpedoes, the TBC's drop 500 lbs instead?? I have to go back to port before they will drop again...

And is there anyway to ream torpedoes at sea?? When I have a Replenish TF with AE's & AO's, they never replenish torps.???

Look I'm not getting on your case or anything here, but you (and others) lately should be posting threads like this in the general 'War in the Pacific' forum first. If its decided that it could be a bug then you could put it here.

Now to your question. There are many reasons a CVTF will not deplete all its torps right away. First and foremost is the type of target they are engaging, of which you make no mention. They will not, generally 'waste' all remaining torps on cargo type TF's. There are many other reason's, and I'm not familiar with them all. Just keep in mind CVTF's will keep some torps for that 'big event'.

As a matter of fact I've yet to see my CVTF's expend all torps on any given sortie. Seems no matter how long they're out, nor how many attacks they make they always seem to come back with some torps.

I've seen CVs use all their torpedoes in one strike, but what's probably happening here is that the air unit commander is deciding the target is not worthy of torpedoes and using bombs instead.

There could also be an issue of range - assuming the second target is not the same as the first.

I don't know the figures offhand for the Avenger but the TBD Devastators are underpowered dogs that supposedly can carry a torpedo to 4 hexes range, but (it seems) the weather has to be perfect. Most often at four hexes I have seen them switch to bombs or not launch at all.

OTOH I have seen Swordfish launch with torpedoes from a British CV in the same TF with a US CV whose Avengers that would not launch (bad weather in the hex - I forget which type it was).
