Freeze Units

Post by alex0809 »

I am playing around a bit with the editor, very fun and easy to use, I like it!

Although it would be great if at some point you could look over some of the "cancel" buttons, "remove row" buttons etc. Because there are a fair amount of crashes or, I think, unintended behaviour. Not a huge deal but sometimes I forget about it and crash the editor.

Now for my main question, I would like some "political rules" in my scenario, is it possible to freeze units if a Logic condition is met? And also, is it possible to change hex ownership if a Logic condition is met?

Hi alex,

Please do report any crash that you can repeat. Needlessly to say its a BETA and I can use all the help I can get to squish any remaining bugs.

As for your question. I will be adding more functionality to the simple editor in the form of more libraries in the (near) future. The freeze units is interesting since it will be usuable i an a range of scenarios.

Hex ownership is more complicated. But if you feel up to it take a look at the "Keys of Potential Doom", you could see if you could write your own event library.

Best wishes,
Vic

Thanks Vic,

I would like to take a look at the "Keys of Potential Doom" then. Can you tell me where to find them?

EDIT: just found it in the Wiki. Very interesting! I think that will allow me to model most of the things I want.

I will update this thread with crashes if any they happen but here's off the top of my head:

- in Tables editor, when you remove cells you can click that button even after you have removed the last cell -> crash
- officer editor, when you enter any value other than number in CombatMod Column -> crash

Good luck. Its largely undocumented stuff, but by looking at some of the libraries I have already written you might be able to pick up a clue or two.
Don't dispear if it is to difficult, thats what i would expect and thats the reason i am providing the "Simple" Editor.

I will try at least. I have dealt with worse documentation already[:D]. The Wiki has a lot of helpful articles.

However, I am a bit stumped at the very start with the advanced editor. Say I want to edit your CommandProblems.dcxevlib. How do I load it? I can only find a load option in the events tab but that crashes when I enter -1 for Event# to import.
