Unable to find PW data!!

Post by ny59giants »

I just copied my main AE folder to have a second install. I've had this problem before, but cannot remember the fix. Please help as I'm drawing a blank!

Properties on the shortcut. Make sure "start in" is using and "target" are correct.

Target is "C:\Matrix Games\War in the Pacific Admiral's Edition - Mike\Beta2\War in the Pacific Admiral Edition.exe" -deepColor -archive -dd_sw -px1920 -py1080

Start in is "C:\Matrix Games\War in the Pacific Admiral's Edition - Mike\Beta2"

What is wrong here??

If I remember correctly the "start in" should be the AE root folder. So try removing the \beta2.

Dear community,

I am encountering quite a similar issue and can't get to run my registered copy of WitPAE.
Running Windows 10 on a i5 PC.
Downloaded v1108r9 and updated with v1124.
Installation folder was D:\Games\WitPAE
(During the installation of v1108r9 a pop-up regarding an entry in the registry appeared - ?!).
Doubleclicking the original .exe (not a shortcut!) led to the Error "Unable to find PW Data !!!"
Can't get a clean uninstall because the game does not show up in the system applications.

Repeating leads to the same issue, plus the utility complaining about an invalid Reg Key.

An idea what I'm doing wrong?

Kind regards,
K.

[Edit] - Thank you very much, General Patton. -- Don't know what went wrong. However, I reactivated my old PC, copied the files 1:1 to the new one - and it works. :-)
