Redmarkus First Impressions

Post by Redmarkus5 »

I like the game - takes me back to my early wargame days; Advanced Third Reich, AH games etc.

A few comments:

1. The NATO units options makes a huge difference for me. I've started SC several times in the past but I could never get past the sprites.
2. I would really like to be able to make attacks with multiple units. The fact that one can't detracts from the tactical side of the game; concentration of force and all that...
3. Ditto unit stacking, even if limited to 2-3 units; combined arms operations etc.
4. Not sure about the restriction on moving after reinforcing and vice versa. After all, a real life Corps doesn't wait in one place for several days to allow its replacements to catch up. Perhaps upgrades should be seen as a refit (no move that turn) while reinforcement is not. Alternatively, a move in the same turn as a reinforce could incur a higher drop in effectiveness/experience, to reflect the fact that no time has been spent training and integrating the new arrivals...?
5. I watched an Allied CV attack one of my subs from a range of several hexes and the CV took several hit points in the process. Seems a bit unrealistic for 1939. CVs should probably be immune to attack from anything except enemy aircraft unless they are in an adjacent hex.

That's all so far. Nice game.

Agreed on the sub attacking CV aircraft. It's silly.
