My First Impressions

Post by timrt »

Started & played as Axis on easy level up to fall of France. overall like what I am seeing.

Agree re comments on subs, mine are getting decimated.

Allies are strong, even the Belgiums put up a long struggle. Possibly too strong.

Difficulties trying to show toolbars at top, they keep on disappearing & difficult to bring back.

Not sure why paratroopers limited so much distance wise. The could reach the atlantic from Germany. Ok, interceptors etc should decimate them and why would you go that far but I think too restricted at the moment.

Turns sequence agonisingly slow, a real turn off. Finish a turn & could leave, cook a meal and get back to the next turn.[:)]

Overall like the feel of the game.

yeah low countries and france are possibly too strong, that was the cause of my slow advance and USSR declaring war on me in august 1941.. There is just too many units on such a small area..Ardennes/low countries feels almost heavier than maginot line because of all the units. Even after the fall of Belgium and Netherlands it's very tough because of the huge wall of french forces around Paris.

Also should add, when in research box, I try & increase research in some of the areas but receive a message that max research reached, even though the box is not highlighted in green or max nos shown.

I don't know, I managed France by August 1940, and that's without know how to do forced march, so the attack against the low countries was delayed.

I managed to knock France out in the second week of September 1940 on intermediate difficulty. It was a bit slow going for awhile, but isolating their units and making pockets helped. Getting over the rivers from Belgium into France was tougher than I expected. I pushed units South behind the Maginot and came up on Paris, forcing the French to re-adjust their line which helped.

The one thing that I noticed was how hard hitting the RAF and FAF were in terms of intercepting my tac bombers and stukas. My fighter escorts were getting shot to pieces with level 1 advanced aircraft and level 1 aerial warfare. It didn't relax until I destroyed the RAF's No.11 group in Charlons with a panzer group.

I'll make an adjustment to Fighters' attack values against Bombers, and also to Tactical Bombers' Fighter Defence values.

Together these should reduce the casualties that intercepted Tactical Bombers are suffering.

About the Allies and their strength. When I played as the Allies they seemed really week and I had real trouble even forming a line as France. BUT, when I attacked them as Germany they were very tough and still are - it's late 1940 and I'm still fighting in France. Pretty sad I know! ;)

On France just be sure to attack early. Also focus on units with low morale while working your way to the capital. And don't feed the Frence med navy any kills to boost morale. [:)]

Yes, Italy should try to keep her navy out of trouble until France has fallen.
