Dom 4 is easy my fav x4 type start game..I love the way combat is resolved. I've always loved watching the matches in Football Manager type games far more than if I was actually playing the match like FIFA. So I love giving out general orders then watching it pan out in DOm4.

I have Dominions 3 and enjoyed playing it, but it got a bit tedious moving troops and stuff around every turn. Lots of clicking. And I was playing single player, I imagine with other humans it would be more rewarding. The races and units and everything are so awesome.

A good game in the same universe (I think?) is Conquest of Elysium. I have the third iteration of it as well. Sort of a rogue like version of Dominions.

The Football Manager 2016 (series) seems to be the benchmark in football management games.

Starting to toy around with Shrapnel Game's "Salvo" ....

I've been on a quest to find a good turn-based Age of Sail game ... and went through Age of Sail, Age of Sail 2, Wooden Ships and Iron men ... and all either had technical issues getting the old games to work on modern OS or controls were lacking etc ....

Salvo works quite well on Win 8.1 and so far, looks to have sufficient depth (wind direction, crew allocation, ammo type, Morale, boarding actions all important parts) ....

Final verdict still pending.

I have Dominions 4 and I must say it is an incredible game even if I still haven't played it! (I spent years of my life with Dom2 and Dom3, however, so I know the series very well...)

Basically, almost with every patch they add new content, including whole new nations, and then publish an amended manual!

I plan to play it as soon as I'm able to print a hardcopy of the manual and the spellbook. PDFs are good on an iPad, but Dominions deserves real ink and paper [8D]

"Oh dad... so you were a God-damned cook?"

Although I am not a fan of Paradox or RTS, I have been playing Crusader Kings 2 almost exclusively of late. Great sale going on right now; http://store.steampowered.com/app/203770/ and Fleet Commander Nimitz for boardgames; http://www.dvg.com/.sc/ms/dd/ee/51/Flee ... r%20Nimitz

1. Playing a 4-player email game of MWIF, allied with my Lord Warspite1, against the Axis players AllenK and Mayhemizer. If you are interested to see my behind kicked around the map you can take a peek here: tm.asp?m=4061938

2. Playing a email game of DC:B, allied with peskpesk and Warspite1.

3. Just begun replaying UFO - Aftermath

1. ARMA 3 - Most fun I've had with this series since the original Flashpoint. The campaign is surprisingly good. Like a Call of Duty story but grounded in reality.

2. SpaceChem - Flexing my brain muscles a bit. Can drive you crazy when you are so close to a solution but need one more piece, but then so satisfying when you figure it out.

3. Unity - I've been playing around with Unity, revisiting my teenage dream of being a game developer. I've got a couple of ideas that may actually be feasible once I get the basics down.
