Will the game generate random maps and oob's?

Post by aaatoysandmore »

Like a quick battle generator. I noticed in the editor it does maps. Is it possible it does it in the main game with random oob's as well?

Random map generator is already there, you can create and save each individual map sector into a template. You can then randomize sector map selection in the editor by using "Assign Random maps to All Sectors" menu. I do have random generator for OOB in mind for the future, though this will require a bit of work since I will have to create force templates.

There are some template maps that come with the editor, they are in the Maps folder inside the main folder of the game. When you load up the scenario you can just select the menu item "Assign Random maps to All Sectors" in the "Maps" menu and depending on the scenario map size the editor will randomly assign a map sector on the scenario map. There are also whole bunch of ASL maps that you can find here: tm.asp?m=4036291 just copy the custom map templates in the "Maps" folder...and have fun :)

Yes, I think idjester has making a scenario youtube video with making/painting a map hex by hex. Though it's very easy to do, just make sure you switch the editor into paint mode and you can draw tiles etc on the map using the control panel on the right side of the editor interface.

If and when you do the creme dela cream random OOB feature this will truely make this one of the greats. If you incorporated it into a just one button selection feature it would even make it greater like the "Quick Battle" button of Combat Mission. Force sizes based on a point buy system would be even more welcome. I say I want a "quick battle" of 5000 points per side and then it only allows me to select 5000pts of units from a selection pool of all the different types of units in WWII. [&o] This is what made Steel Panthers great also. Don't you want to be up there with that game??[:D]

Yes, the quick battle generator of the Combat Mission first series games is why I still play them.

A quick battle generator for TotH would be great.

I read somewhere that the Combat Mission games were an attempt to put Squad Leader in 3d.
