[RESOLVED v1.11 SR2] Command v1.11 SR1 - build 839 - bugs?
Let me start by congratulating you on the game. As a Harpoon1 fan who waited for years for Harpoon4 I'm loving your work.
A few days ago I updated to v1.11 SR1 (Build 839) and now have an unplayable version. The issues that I have noted to date are:
1. If the Map Cursor Databox is anywhere other than attached to the mouse cursor the game stops as soon as the mouse enters the map area.
2. On time compression 1 the game runs, but if the compression is increased to anything else the game speed is massive. For example, on compression at 5 Seconds it runs at approximately 30 times real time. Higher compression rates are higher again.
3. All scenarios that I've tried so far open with one or more error messages of the form "WARNING! Area validation......... The polygon that makes up the area crosses itself which means that it is invalid......"
4. Fonts in most areas are too large for the available space on the screen and are being truncated. I've noted this being commented upon on the forum and being resolved, but I think I have bigger issues.
I have uninstalled the game, reinstalled it from my CD and run the update (massive file - around 1.7GB) only to have the same issues. I'm running Windows 7.

2 Check the game options. There are switches that can be turned off in order to speed up the game.
3 Which scenarios? The Standalones that come with game?
4 Do you normal windows scaling or Medium (larger font)
Can you post your specs?

Hi Michael,
2. The problem here is that the game runs WAY too quickly at game speeds above real time. Slow speed is not an issue.
3. The Warning is evident in the stand alone scenarios that are pre installed in the game. The areas/zones that appear to be generating the warnings are not visible in the mission editor.
4. I do run a slightly larger font as a base setting in my PC - helps with my eyesight. However, the same setting has been there for years and did not cause any issues with the pre-upgrade version I was playing last week.
My PC is an I7 CPU with 8GB of RAM. The game is installed on my C drive which is a 120GB SSD. As stated earlier, all running in Windows 7 (home) environment.

Go to game options and switch from non-pulse mode to pulse mode. This forces the game to update the map every second instead of as fast as it can.
A change was made to validate all areas created with ref points a few versions ago. If you can't get any to work, you'll have to contact the scenario author. You should also make sure you have the latest community pack...just to make sure.
They are still working on optimizing fonts. Read the threads on the font issues and the change log for the most current builds for some insight on the issues.

Excellent TW1. Changing it to pulse mode has contained its rampant enthusiasm and it now runs at the "correct" speed. You're a gem.
Excuse my ignorance, but where do I find the community packs?

For some reason I still can't post a direct link, but on the main board, look for the topic called "New scenario pack releases". The link to the current scenario pack is in the first post.ORIGINAL: ArmchairAdmiral

I would suggest reading through the forums. Especially the pinned ones. There are a couple threads just for people new to the game and forum.
Scenario Pack: tm.asp?m=3587065
Database images and descriptions: tm.asp?m=3441939
Read this first: tm.asp?m=3607586
After going through the video tutorials, I strongly suggest search the FAQ site before posting questions. Your more likely to get official answers and it will probably be faster.

Thanks guys. I'll put my reading glasses on in the morning.
My residual player related problem is the one listed as 1 above, namely "If the Map Cursor Databox is anywhere other than attached to the mouse cursor the game stops as soon as the mouse enters the map area." That one is a pain but does not stop the game.
The "WARNING" listed as number 3 above may be more of a problem for the AI. It hasn't hurt me - yet.

For Number 3, improvements to the game system have created situations where formally valid areas and zones in older community scenarios have become invalid, usually because the intended polygon is now rendered as something completely different by the game. I suggest that it's really incumbent upon the Scenario Authors to update their older scenarios so that fixed versions can be posted in the Community Scenarios downloads. You can try to PM the author to alert him to the error or post the issue of the invalid zone error messages in the Mods and Scenarios forum since I'm sure that some might be unaware of issues with their work. Thanks.

Also, its usually just the order the ref points were put down to create an order. I have fairly successfully reordered them and its worked.
RE: Command v1.11 SR1 - build 839 - bugs?
I just rolled back to v1.09 from v1.11SR1. When loading a scenario there was never a "Load" button just a cancel button.

One thing to make sure of is your DPI settings and dialog box sizes are correct. I think it is listed in the 1.11SR update thread.
1) Make sure the checkbox in any shortcut for "Disable DPI scaling" is off.
2) Delete your command.ini file.
3) Try stretching the load scenario dialog box as wide as possible or until the Load button shows up.
I would try 3, then 2, then 1.

btw, don't put bug reports in other bug report threads. It makes it very difficult to keep track of issues.

Emsoy,
It is fixed. Well done. [:D]
TW1:
Deleted command.ini file too and that fixed the menu. The world is again a beautiful place, unless you live in France. Sad in the extreme.[&o]
