So we had a combination of kamikaze strikes (which targeted our shipping at Amami Oshima), Imperial merchants fleeing the Chinese coast, and IJN destroyers seemingly hunting the RN carriers (which remained unengaged and turned the tables).

A number of sweeps over Kyushu bases met no resistance, but a number of B-24 strikes reported a grand total of only 1 Light Industry hit - more dismal than I thought possible.

Asahikawa's defenders took such a blow I assume the city will fall tomorrow.

Another division will land at Muroran tomorrow, after which the attacks there will begin. Muroran Fortress did rough up some transports but even the worst damaged is not so bad off at all. Tomorrow they will get another shot as the USA 7th ID lands, but after that they are in trouble.

I think there is too little strength there to attack without unnecessary casualties. The armour is recovering (one unit still is), but almost all the combat units on Luzon are at Manila. I have a little more combat power being sea lifted in to other bases (notice one Bn already there and maneuvering) that will take the clear terrain behind Manila and Clark, cutting off those two bases as a pair. The forces on Mindanao will join them after finishing there and will provide the needed combat power to move further, so it will be a bit.

Near Nanyang we are trying to destroy the ex-defenders of Sinyang and doing a decent job of it. One unit will move on Nanyang while the others move toward the path which the enemy units are now taking out of Nanyang so we can catch them in the open again. At Wuhu we retreated the defenders into a now withdrawing force that had stymied us to the SW. There is only 1 Imperial unit there now and they will be attacked tomorrow unless they move first. Meanwhile the three divisions which attacked at Wuhu are moving to attack those withdrawing units in the less favorable Woods terrain (compared to Woods-Rough) while air strikes act to to slow their movement.

Enemy air strikes in China today were aimed at both of our armored columns but had little impact, even though we are outrunning effective fighter cover.

The Indian 46th Bde will move on Ningpo while the rest of the force that seized Shaohing marches into Hangchow. A number of additional Bde and Rgt are moving on Hangchow as they have finally made it to the area, with more on the way. The divisions and some artillery of the main spearhead are trying to catch and rout the troops that were blocking their way, now moving toward Hangchow. Air strikes are slowing them but catching them in time to attack will be difficult.

There are 28,000 troops in Nanking and either all or some are making to escape NE across the river. Our armor is moving to block them but will take 2 days to arrive and so could seize that place on the 3rd day soonest.


The last enemy stronghold on Formosa is now a pocket of zombies.

The stout resistance at Muroran was a surprise but the defenders took massive casualties.

The P-47N begins production tomorrow at 100 per month! We still have 3x P-47D2 squadrons on the line with aircraft in the pool. The P-47D25 is currently our premier fighter and we have 81 in the pool. The P-51D is of course very important and we have 227 in the pool and 150 per month being produced.

The B-29B also begins production tomorrow at 40 per month. Purely for night operations with few guns, it carries 36x 500 pound bombs. The B-29-25 is still being produced at 40 per month.
