Read the readme...it is in the directory folder.

You must put in switches to optimize the game for your system.

Mine runs blisteringly fast on windows 10.

Most solutions are mentioned in this thread : tm.asp?m=3905995

Specifically last page, post 242 by Macclan5 is informative.

I'd start with adding switches like -deepColor and add the others if this isnt working(enough).

If nothing helps we can at least pin down the problem a bit more by telling us what you did or couldn't do[;)]

Hope this can get you on the right track.

For Win 10, I use these switches. The most glaring issue fixed is the lag.
-altFont -archive -deepColor -f -px1920 -py1080 -skipVideo -SingleCpuOrders -dd_sw

In addition to the switches, I couldn't get WitP to work on Windows 10 until I took the following step.

1. Right click on the WitP exe
2. Click Troubleshoot compatibility
3. When an option comes up, choose the one: "it worked on a previous version of windows"
4. Say yes to w/e it does, it should run the game once, confirm that it worked
5. Game should now run on windows 10

Make sure a new shortcut is created to your desktop and read the "Readme" file... I fumbled on this too in the beginning.

I made a new shortcut to my Desktop and Copy and Pasted the commands from the Read me file and it did not work

I then deleted the commands from the Target and then the shortcut worked but still had the same lag problem

I can play the game but it is so slow

sounds like you are not adding to the shortcut correctly - try reading the readme again very carefully and choosing switches specific to your pc/monitor specs - its easy to mess up, one character wrong or missing will do it

With a new shortcut you should be ok but copy/pasting doesnt use the correct - as far as I know, I d change the - (minus)manually
and see if that helps, you are certainly not the first to get into trouble with that and I hope changing that is the solution.

Assuming you have the switches that help in your setup, computer + OS, you might have to experiment with the switches if
the command line works^^.

Golden Oldie programs and modern OS is as much work as getting a game to work before the millenium , nothing ever really changes,
its just different kind of problems^^[;)]

PS there should be a space before every minus its also very easy to overlook the first one right after the target line,
you should be ok on the used Capitals with copy/paste like deepColor .

In case you missed it in the other thread:

Make sure you are NOT working with the shortcut that starts up the overall menu - the one that allows you to open the manual or editor or the game. That one is not affected by switches.

You must set up the new shortcut manually from the game executable "War in the Pacific Admiral Edition.exe" in the Matrix folder. The installation of the game does not provide this shortcut for you. Simply find the executable in your file system, right click on it and choose "Create Shortcut", then drag the shortcut to your desktop.

Rename one of the shortcuts so you can distinguish which is the menu and which is the direct game.
Add switches one at a time and observe the results.

Wow, you are a glutton for punishment.[;)]

You have provided almost no information except for the amount of time you have spent on this problem.

You could have posted a picture of your properties settings for the shortcut, like I did. Amount of time to post...2 minutes.

You could describe your computer some.

You could describe some of the switches you have tried or even your current switch settings. Copy and paste your settings here., but if you continue to give us no information it is hard for us to help you. A picture is worth a thousand words.

Well, enjoy the game.

Lowpe

I tried every switch that was in the read me file

Every time I got a Message that says it was an invalid target

This was using a new Shortcut from the .exe in the War in the Pacific Folder

Checked all the spaces

The Computer I am using was given to me by my son

Will post the specs when I get home tonight

If you are getting an invalid target error message, then you are probably putting the switches in the wrong place.
Your target line should look something like this:

"D:\War in the Pacfic Admirals Edition\Focus Pacific\War in the Pacific Admiral Edition.exe" -w -px2520 -py1525 -archive -cpu4 -dd_sw -deepColor -multiaudio -skipVideo -SingleCpuOrders

This may not have the right switches for you, but note where things are.

The target location "Beta 2" does not fit with most installations. The path to the file in the shortcut must match with the path that the switches are in.

PS- another thought - the " " marks go around the path before the switches but not around the switches. Some players have had problems because their switches were within the quotes.

You have to put in the switch commands by hand the first time and make sure that the correct punctuation and spaces are used. However once you have the correct settings you may then copy and paste between different installs ie DBB, Focus Pacific, Reluctant Admiral etc
