Did you forget to include the notional here? As far as I can see, it should have a defense of three, not zero.

This would not have made any difference, as the Allies would be at over +17, and rolled a 9, but I am trying to figure out why the defense was zero.

I pretty sure that I did include the notionals. I pretty sure I can dig up the land combat and confirm that I did. I'll let you know what I find.
