Naval reinforcements

Will sending damaged ships back to japan for repair increase the likelyhood of undamaged ships in japan being released to replace them?

thanks;

Not only should you send back 10 sys damage and over but any ship you don't intend to use or need. It is essential to keep the replacement level at high (for Japan). I am slowly learning this as is is difficult for me to send back CVEs, DDs and transports that are sitting in harbor but when I see that CV wasting away in Tokyo or Pearl I know what I have to do...

The value of all your shipping collectively in theater and ships already on the way to you coupled with the game date and reinforcement rate modifier all play together collectively to control what gets released.

From all the discussions, a few conclusions can be drawn, but no one really knows the exact way it is calculated.

(a) Ships smaller then DD's are released as single vessels.

(b) Capital ships only release as long as there are ships available to form a properly escorted fleet. DD's release as escorts to these vessels.

Capital ships seem to be the majority of your shipping from a points perspective, perhaps it in theater level is based on VP values to a certain extent.

The basic allocation is 10000 for each side. This is modified based on game date in either a positive or negative direction. The USA seems to start at 75% and Japan at 150% of this value and the game ends with these reversed. The exact numbers and game month where these rates change was posted a long time back, but I don't clearly remember them.

Your question is completely dependant on WHAT you send back as ships have different values and seem to have different requirements as to release rules. ie: Sending back a lot of AP's in not going to get you a CV.

2by3 has kept this rather vague to prevent folks from exploiting the system to get exactly what they want I would guess.

I don't know if ship type is that important. I just send a fleet of transports back to Pearl and now I am getting some real Pearls. Security prevents me from revealing what they are as I know Soulblazer will read this.:D

Curious of your games date Drex, seeing as the USA sides pool numbers grow behind the scene...curious if your boost ties in with one of the points where the rate kicks up for the USA.

I have yet to find sending back reams of little stuff to get me anything of value simply because the valuable stuff comes as an entire fleet at once and thats takes more little stuff then I have :(

It's late in the game, August of '43. Soulblazer has got a huge point advantage and I'm just trying to whittle it down and play the game to the very end to see how it really ends. So my example is probably not average, yet it worked to an astounding degree.( I shouldn't have said that).

In Scen 17 as Allied, my 'release probability' is moderate and I have my first BB available in Pearl but no DD to escort him. So I send back from Noumea 8 DD with no/little damage that should all be available in Pearl roughly one month later and will hopefully sail with the BB just after. If I just have waited for new DD, because of the variable reinforcements, the BB wouldn't have had an escort for far more longer.

Has anybody tried to send back PT´s. I have tried that couple of times ( 2 - 3 PT´s group ). I have hoped armament upgrade, but they just disappear. Anybody any experience about that?

:) Yup!

But it´s only a game. It is not very realistic to send AP with 80 float and 80 sys damage from Noumea to Pearl and seems to work all times. I have not tried send float damage 99 and sys 99 ( or something like that ) to Pearl but when I get chance then I will.

I think when you ship vessels back to Pearl some guy says "Beam me up Scotty" and ship is in Pearl. :D
