My initial impressions

Post by pcpilot »

First, let me say thank you to matrix for allowing me to assist in the beta. My initial impressions...Game looks
familiar. The war map, technology/research, unit purchase, etc. all there like the older SC1 and 2.Don't care for the music or the loading screen.

I have now played as the Germans thru Nov. 1940. I have captured Poland, the low countries, Norway (automatically), and France.
I have researched improved industrial technology and a couple other technologies. The Italians have joined the war and are already
floundering in North Africa. I have had one crash early in the game when I was attempting to surround Warsaw. There
was only a fighter squadron between my units closing in. When I attacked and destroyed it, I advanced my unit,
a tank. The border or area of control did not advance with him before I got an error message which forced me to
close the game. I am sorry that I did not copy down the error message; something to do with an exception. I
re-started the game and took up with the autosave. I repeated the same move, destroying the fighter and this time
there was no crash.
The game feels a lot like the old SC which is a plus to me. One of the things that made the old game so enjoyable
was how it played. This is very similar. If I had any complaints, it revolves around how the map looks "busy". Almost
too much detail so it is harder to see where units are, what they are, etc. Of course there are a lot of unfinished
units, and placeholder units. But I also found the small font ingame hard to read and see. I have to go to work now
so more later.
