War in Russia

Post by xwormwood »

Suggestion:

cutting of the Soviet Railway connection between Murmansk and Moscow should move the Allied convoy line from Murmansk to Arkhangelsk. With the railway cut, there are no supply reaching the anybody. In the best case they are piling to the sky. But the Allies would have changed the target harbor, and the Soviets would have want them to do so.

Information:
I refused the Hitler-Stalin pact (against the Allied AI, exp. lvl) and attacked Russia early 1940 (while hiding behind the Siegfried line to hold of the French).
In May 1940 Finland declared war on Russia. Not sure why, as my frontline never moved much into Russia.

Huh. Difficult. You'll have to trigger 4 or more Russian cities to this convoy event...[8|]

Hi Claus

In principle it makes sense to have the convoy move, but what if there is a direct connection from Murmansk to Leningrad but not to Moscow?

Or from Murmansk to Vologda, which is connected to various Soviet resources further east, but Moscow is encircled so not to the capital?

This could be very tricky to get right in all situations, so I'd need a clear plan that doesn't move the convoy when there might be a plausible reason for keeping it at Murmansk.

As to Finland, it will join the Axis if it is pro-Axis and either:

- Germany declares war on the USSR (i.e. it isn't a fully mobilized USSR that has declared war on Germany, because Germany is weak).
- Axis forces advance to within 4 hexes of Leningrad or 1 hex of Pskov, Ostrov or Polotsk.

As I've said in the other thread, I'm very wary to have any more complicated conditions for Finland to enter the war because even these relatively simple settings have caused some confusion.
