How can I create a shipset?

Can anybody tell me the steps to create shipsets?

I save an image,I try to put in paint,cut it and in-game I end up with that ship being surrounded by a white square.

Am I doing something wrong?Maybe I need to cut them in another program,or?

Any help would be appreciated!

I have never made some, but for modding purposes, the modding guide is your friend. If you look it up you will probably find that it says:

"All images should be stored as PNG image files (Portable Network Graphics). Image
backgrounds should be set to full transparency."

I looked at the modding guide but didn't find it that helpfull for ships to be honest.I'll try again.

Starts on page 15 of the modding guide. Also I don't think paint has a transparency function. I'm probably wrong. I use gimp. It's free and works well (for me).

I know where it starts,it's just that it didn't help me.I tried with paint and it doesn't have transparency function,I'll start using GIMP AGAIN.Thank you for help!
