Manual targeting of Messina and air losses.

Post by colberki »

I like to target Messina city and port with my SB. Using the bomb city function I can't seem to find the option to target the port. Only bomb city is available. Also will the auto air directives undo my manual targeting of Messina?

After finishing the 7 turn introductory scenario and winning a minor Allied victory, I note that WA lost about 1100 aircraft vs 780 by the Axis. I made no changes to the starting air doctrines. Only tweaked as above and to prioritise ground attack on units as we approached Messina. Are these WA aircraft losses normal?

- Port targetting is set as a priority using the radio buttons accessed via <TGT PRI> in either the BOMB CITY or GROUND ATK Air Directives.

- Using auto air directives will undo manual targetting .....however in the AutO AD Creation screen you can check/uncheck those elements to be reset using the tick box next to the TITLES. This allows players to have the AI set some aspects like STRATEGIC AIR DAY or NIGHT and concentrate on TACTICAL AIR MEDITERRANEAN. Which Air Force is controlled by which heading is in one of the later Player's Handbook sections.

- Your losses are normal - more WA aircraft flying more missions give higher losses but your % losses are probably less than the Axis.

actually Axis losses are very close to the historical figures:
