At Hankow, two units were just crossing the river and did not attack. I think they were supposed to shock attack but did not change from Move to Combat mode so I know they did not. When Michael releases the next Beta that might be fixed. At any rate they will be available to attack next time as will the Australian 9th Division, which is now beginning to march across the bridges from Wuchang. Our air units striking in support of the assault had a hard time and are standing down until next time. We did reduce the defenders' fortification level and I regard that as a good sign.

Tomorrow we attack at Nanking against a much smaller force with more powerful forces of our own. Chengtu is overcrowded in spite of no new arrivals today as many units are still on the move out to countryside campsites. A supply airlift from India will start tomorrow to supplement what can be brought to Chengtu overland.

Weather over the region continues to be lousy, and many bombs made no hits on Light Industry at Shanghai so far as I could see.

Wakkanai is secured.

The CVE operating off Hakodate had a peaceful night - no air raids! Another mine field laid to the west, our DMS are clearing them. Those IJ merchant convoys appear to be hiding in the Sea of Okhotsk rather than trying to make for Japan.

Most of our B-29 on Formosa are ready to go, but the weather is again forecast rain. Against Shanghai the B-24, et al make a piddling few Light Industry hits, chipping away at that supply base.

Despite being "surrounded" for several days in a row, Yangtze SNLF soldiers on. No fortification breach at Nanking, but the casualty ratio was very good and will change things quickly. The troops rest tomorrow.

We have finally drained the pool of Chinese Inf Sqd 43. Chinese Inf Sqd 45 stands at 356, with almost all units so equipped set to not take replacements. I'm letting the pool build up higher so that we can get (almost) all units upgraded more quickly. Chengtu is now only slightly over crowded but has plenty of supply for an attack tomorrow. Some countryside hexes are over crowded due to transiting units but that will quickly abate.
