It is a New Zealand Squadron.

I thought since I bought it out to I Australian Corps I would need to get the squadron to Australia to withdraw the unit.

Glad you mentioned this. I will stop by Auckland first, see if I can withdraw it there.

Allied bombers stood down due to damaged aircraft, fatigue, and disruption.

As usual, the Japanese bombers hit Chengtu and Chungking. I don't know why the Japanese are bombing the airfields considering there aren't any Allied aircraft in China. Perhaps El Lobo believes that he will not be unable to take Chengtu and Chungking before the Allies in Burma come to rescue the Chinese?

He is still getting supply hits on the air bases so that is enough reason to keep bombing. Any AA will use supplies on those attacks as well. Plus, it keeps forts from being built and if he suspects you are flying in supplies from Burma it would make the trickle less efficient and cause some ops losses to your transports trying to use the runway.

I think you may have hit on something here. I now suspect that he thinks the Allies are flying supplies into Chengtu.

The Allies aren't flying supplies into Chengtu. 14 transports have been flying supplies from Jessore to Cox's Bazar and to Kalemyo.

Gentlemen-

BB Valiant is severely damaged (see Valiant statistics below), at sea off the coast of Bombay, and due to be withdrawn in 31 days. I think that a ship must be fully repaired before it can be withdrawn The closest port that could accommodate the tonnage of the Valiant is Colombo. I don't like the idea of a slow steam to Colombo as the Valiant would no doubt be stuck in the shipyard for months, costing me substantial Political Points. I have been hoping that the Valiant would sink, but it fails to oblige my wishes.

Is there a quick way to get rid of the Valiant?

And while we're at it, can anyone explain the Draconian withdrawal rules???

Historical needs of other fronts are without question important. But the system should allow for a comparable-value withdrawal, rather than a specific vessel. After all, the needs of the Med fleet, or the Home Fleet, cannot be met with Political Points expenditures—they need a ship.

Having comparable-value withdrawals would also get a lot of gaminess out of the system. Here's a poor chap that has to find ways to sink his own ship. And by our absurd measure, he is perfectly reasonable. No man should be compelled thus.

The reason for specific ships is because of their types, I am sure if your could, you would swap 30 AK for a carrier or BB. The only way I can think of to avoid your problem of long time in Colombo shipyard and avoid losing more PP is to scuttle it and give Japan some VPs instead.

Please forgive me for not being clear in the first place: I only meant if BB Valiant is not available due to dire circumstances, what about optioning out with other British BBs already on the map in addition to Valiant? Could not one of them serve as well?

But I get your point that any swap-out should be "in class", so to speak. Otherwise, more gaminess.

Incidentally, I know it's got to be in the manual somewhere, but exactly how does one go about scuttling a ship? Something classy, like Graf Spee...
