This is one of the many items displayed on the web page for the given HTML. Many of these have little numerics at the end listing costs. After 15 minutes of waiting clicking on the link (it claimed to be downloading a PDF file) I gave up. I'm trying again now.

In the meantime, forgive me for concluding that the "$52.00" appended to the end was a solicitation for money. How could I have inferred such a thing?

Yes, these documents can be purchased in hardcover form (or are available freely if in the US Military as a library checkout) or downloaded under the Freedom of Information Act.

These actual volumes comprise the ONLY entire record of the Air Force during the war. They make for facinating reading to say the least, and as they are directly from the source, they have a lot of detailed information including a lot of information between command level staff that is not really available anywhere else in the world.

There are some issues with accuracy that may be corrected in other sources, but nowhere will you find the actual guts down to this kind of level. It is pretty much a 7000 page history of the Air Force in WW II detailing who was who and why things happened the way they did.

Any works that are not the property of the government do not have the actual PDF form available as they would obviously be subject to the copyright holder. Sorry if I seemed grumpy, but your note caught me in a "bad day at the office" mood

As a side note, they have fantastic maps and recon photos of bases actually taken at the time which really help putting a scale on things that you do not get playing the game. Well worth the hours it takes to pull down the 7 book set of WWII.
