Egyptian Navy

Post by carll11 »

So, I created a scn. and this co. decided to take to the Great Bitter Lake, didn't feel like driving.... [:'(]

AS someone who once drove a 113, I don't think this is very realistic, is it a bug?

My understanding is that the M113 and M113A1 versions are amphibious APC.

The M113A2, on the other hand, are not, I don't believe.

Morning Jason, not sure on the A2, I would imagine yes, its amphibious, I don't see them losing functionality in an upgrade.

My reference to 'realistic' was in tactics and, common sense, this actually made me laugh out loud when I fist spotted them.

That Unit started offshore 7 hexes below or south of its present location, its been in the water for 7 hexes so far and won't make land by the looks of it for at least 6-12 more.....

At 250 meters per hex?[X(] being conservative lets call it 3000 meters, no commander would put his men in an amphib. like that, made for river, stream or canal crossings for almost 2 miles ( or 3.5 to the northern shore on a straight line).

If this is HAL doing this, there is nothing in the code to prevent an amphibious vehicle from being, well, amphibious.

HAL would usually be taking the path of least resistence, and not out in the water, but that would depend on the starting locations of the group of platoons.
