As the Repulse initiates searching, uncommitted aircraft from both sides stay on the ground (Allies could only reach the 0-box so I assumed they wouldn't fly). The subs on the other hand ....?

Right you are with no aircraft.
I'll include the submarines for the first round.

No AA effect? If so then use the surprise points to increase the combat table.

In case of air to air combat, remember to compensate one pilot to Germany if pilot is killed.
If your attack is going really well, it's an ambush.

As reports come in of biplanes from the FAA inbound to Gib, the Germans scramble some Me-109's to add to the show.
It would take the Luftwaffe fighter jocks many months before they could live down being beaten off by Nimrods. I presume the Allies stay. Any additional air to fly?

No option to add anything anyway.
However, the Nimrods continue writing their own chapter in history by then causing the Me-110 bombers to scatter, jettison bombs and head for home. Finally out of ammo and low on fuel, they return to HMS Eagle.

Looks buggy.
The front bomber is a 'fighter bomber' and should have -1 in the air to air rating. So the air combat table should have been -1 and +1. Edit2: Note that the fighter-bomber is shown as three in air to air rating in the first combat round.
The two results should then have been DA and DA and doesn't change anything but MWIF showed one result as AA.
But if MWIF considered the air table +2 and -2 then the results would have been 'no effect' and AA.
So, in my opinion, the actual, practical, result is correct but as I see it there is a bug here.
Edit: Or there is something I am missing. [&:] [:(]

It does look like a bug.
I've recreated the combat.
Here's the screenshot just before entering the Allied combat dice roll. It's going in correctly as -1/+1, with the Me-110 showing as having 3 points (reduced by 1).

Then, after the Me-110 is aborted and returns to base, the values change to -2/+2 for the Axis response. I'll post it to Tech Support.
