Replacement for Stub Engine in WW II?

Post by DonCzirr »

Looks like there are no plans to develop content atm with the Stub Engine for WWII. (Battle Academy 1 /2)

I may have missed the announcement but does anyone know if there is an announced replacement that would fill that niche?

Or is it possible that it may be used again for other WWII topics? (Pacific, Mediterranean etc)

Steel Tigers is based on Archon, and is WW2 goodness. So hopefully that will keep people happy.

Hey Pip, Where is this Steel Tigers y'all are talkin' about?

A lot of talk, for a few years now.
"Trust Us!!" ... it's gonna be awesome!.

No screenshots though, no discussion forum, nothing at all to indicate that anything is being done with this.

How in the Hell do you expect people to be Happy about this proclaimed WW2 goodness that no-one has seen?

How?

Erik announced over a year ago that progress was being made, and that soon interested parties could be invited to help. Not a peep since.

?????????

Maybe, you should ask yourself ... Why does this look like you're touting Vapourware Pip?

When there is something we're happy to show we'll show it!

Sadly you can't release any work in progress images these days as press never update them.

2by3 have been working on it for a long time already and there is a lot of the core system in place but visuals are still going in. A huge library of models had to be created.

Glad to hear about Steel Tigers. A modern follow up to Steel Panthers is something truly to look forward to.

On the other hand, I will miss BA2's unique charm ... hopefully it survives future OS transitions so it can be kept in good working status over the years ....

The BA team are now helping 5 other teams make their games in the Archon engine so have become more of a floating resource so no time to make a game any more, but the core engine is there and if any of the developers want to use it to make a BA style game we'd be more than happy to help :)

Good info there - thanks.

I often thought that the BA2 Engine would be a nice fit for 40k tactical titles.

On the other hand, the Sanctus Reach images look very promising as well ...

Either way, I would definitely give serious purchasing consideration to any 40k title that used BA2 assets ...

* As long as it did not feature more Orks [;)]
