Strategic Command New Version Available (v1.00.09)
Hello Everyone
A new Strategic Command beta build is now available. v1.00.09
Please refer to Tamas' earlier forum post ("How to download the latest beta build") for how to download this
tm.asp?m=4105056
Please uninstall all previous versions before installing v1.00.09
Due to the many improvements and fixes made by Hubert and Bill I'm afraid save games from earlier versions will not
work with v1.00.09
Once again there are too many amendments made for this version to list them all here. Please refer to the Patch
Notes for details.
However I'd like to draw your attention to what I think are some of the more notable new features and upgrades
- The Essential Guide (draft version) is now available in German, Spanish and French (as well as English). This can
be found in C:\Program Files (x86)\Matrix Games\Strategic Command - WWII War in Europe\Manuals (assuming you opted
for the default installation)
- The new style UI can now be seen in the screens leading up to the game start (the rest of the screens will be updated
to this style shortly)
- 3D units completed for all majors and minors (although you can play using NATO icons if you prefer).
- Players can now select friendly majors to be controlled by the AI.
- Players can now switch sides during the game when playing against the AI.
- Players can now adjust the difficulty level during the game when playing against the AI as well as fine tune the
difficulty and bonus settings as we've added some extra options.
Finally this is a debug build so there will be performance improvements 'down the line' as we get close to release.
We hope you enjoy this new version and look forward to your feedback
regards
Ben Wilkins

RE: Strategic Command New Version Available (v1.00.09)
I'm not able to download and play the new version immediately, but I'm curious: Was a new zoom level added between the two previous widest zoom levels? I ask because more than one of us noted that the present options were sometimes either too wide or a little too close.

Thought this new interphase shown in the public forum was going to be available with v1.00.09
I downloaded the unzip exe v1.00.09, is there any difference with the zipped one?
Am I missing something? Maybe some option I have to turn on?
Thanks

There is an option in advanced settings: Right-click Unit Action Menu
However, whether it is enabled or not, the extra action icons (which you show on your screenshot) are not showing and the right-click menu is available for all units.

Hi Dgold, I saw the Right-click Unit Action Menu before posting and I turn it on and off, but it must still be underworks because nothing (that I noticed) happened.
Hopefully for the next version [8D]

RE: Strategic Command New Version Available (v1.00.09)
Report - I started my first game with 1.09, me Axis against computer Allies. This time I'm going Poland > France > Sealion, and hoping diplomacy will get me Spain, Yugo, Greece, Turkey, all while still hoping to attack Russia in summer 1941.
Things are going nicely and I'm well into Sealion, with London and Manchester German occupied, and Spain just joined the Axis along with Hungary and Romania. Then WHAM ! The USA joins the Allies.
I'd say I'm not happy about it, but admit it is a nice touch, well done.

RE: Strategic Command New Version Available (v1.00.09)
Finished my first game with 1.09, a few notes:
- switching from one major to another major in the Diplomacy screen will no longer reset the country list selection as long as the country list selection is identical for each major.
This was a nice change and reduced aggravation in the Diplomacy Box.
- changed the default labels for AI difficulty settings to Green, Novice, Intermediate, Veteran, Expert.
This plus the display of the 'Computer Bonuses' makes it easier to understand these settings.
The map still goes wonky when we hit the far right side using the mouse scroll.
I played as the Axis against the Allied Computer on Intermediate [no bonuses]. Like with my last game, I felt it ended too soon. I had gone Poland, France, Sealion then Russia, while putting maximum Diplomacy on one minor country at a time until it joined me. Sealion was easy as once I got a port, I could then transport a large [unrestricted] number of units to England and overwhelm the defenders. In Russia I had taken Moscow and Kyubyshev but not Perm [the 3rd Capital]. The Middle East was all Axis occupied. I got an Axis Decisive Victory in May 1944. I can agree that the game was probably over, but if I felt that way myself I can stop playing and start another game. As it was, personally I would like to continue to conquer Russia, while fending off the Western Allies' Amphibious Assaults.
I am playing a modified campaign, but I hope that I haven't done anything that alters the parameters for the game ending.
Thanks very much for allowing the computer to adjust hex ownership so that we don't have waste time physically occupying every hex on the map. [&o]

SSGs old classic Warlords had a nice feature. The game offered the player the win, and if he refused to take it ("off with their miserable heads"), the game went on, but now the game continued on the highest possible difficulty level.
[:)]
But I agree, the player should get the opportunity to continue the game.

Since this was changed then maybe the wording should be changed to 'Rybachi Peninsula'.

I just went to change this in the scripts, and it looks like I must have changed it at the time, so hopefully you're playing an older version?

RE: Strategic Command New Version Available (v1.00.09)
Yeah Bill, I've discovered that I've got something wrong somewhere. For example, I got a message that is not in my campaign folder. I'm not very proficient in getting all my stuff incorporated when a new version comes out. For 1.09, I backed up all my stuff to a different area, then deleted/uninstalled everything from 1.08, then added my stuff, and things are still a little wonky.
I usually check both files before reporting things, but I forgot to do that this time, sorry [:(]

Wrong spot sorry
Hi,
Noticed a few things, real quick as a start
The 3d units are a lot easier to see on the map now
Why does the computer player(AI) use a base on the 3d Icons, if not selected?
****I couldn't select the Reports menu during Operation Barbosa playing as Germany during my turn. Not highlighted
