I'm actually glad to see the slaughter on Honshu that you're having to endure, it makes me feel justified in my decision to spend supplies copiously in digging forts on Honshu.

Don't forget that the forts will most likely reduce supply stockpile hits from aerial bombardments.[:)]

Uh, I don't think they do that, do they?

Lots of VP at Shanghai, and it isn't heavily defended, but more and more troops arrive each day.

Only need to hold for 14 more days and the rail line from Nanking to Manchuko is still intact.

I have mentioned this before, and read the rules quite closely and have evidence of my games to firmly believe this is the case.

I don't know the mechanics, and there could even be more than one benefit: i.e. reducing the number of supply hits and a percent reduction in the effectiveness of the bombs at destroying supplies formula for those that do hit.

+1 on the forts protecting supply as well as troops/devices.

I just wanted to point out the Allied disruption malus in the attack on Nagoya...

I think the 4th Marine has been knocked down to near 200 AV...so even though my troops are shot and falling like flies, I just need to hold on for two more weeks.

Did you ever get CD guns to fire on enemy shipping on the Yangste?

Only on shore bombardments.

Mines never worked either.

So disappointing!

One of my many problems is supply, and supply getting to Nagoya and Maizuru.

I have had to move units in and out of the cities so they can resupply, rather than wait for the supply to ship into those towns. It is a pain...

I have gone to leaving all AA in reserve no pursuit mode as it moves in and out of the cities, but this way I always have some AA firing at the Allied bombers. If they stayed put, then no AA would fire and I would embolden the Allies. But I get tired of moving the the units in and out, so normally start 10 or so units each way each turn.

Lots of other units are using reserve no pursuit mode too. I find having about 20 to 30 percent of the raw AV in this mode helps, but I don't put low experience troops into this mode for fear they won't fight.

The countdown is really on!

I've been doing some testing myself and I'm convinced something isn't quite right in regards to CD guns on rivers. Plus, I was right about there being something off with barrage balloons and night bombing, so I'm not completely crazy!

No major attacks on Honshu...

Japanese troops are really on their last legs, but I am also wearing down the Allies somewhat.

It is interesting to see how Japan use's of units change during the game.

I squandered a lot of my air force in pointless attacks...

I squandered my transports in risky last minute escapes...

Now, they are both extremely valuable in flying supplies with only the very rare attack.

Getting supplies to the combat troops is simply so very important in the slugfest that has evolved here.

I think a more methodical Allied player would have destroyed all my supply generation by now, but I still make quite a bit. Industry at Shanghai is untouched for example as is most of Manchuko and Korea.

Dec 18th, 1944

No major attacks, but the Allies are recovering fast at Nagoya. The 4th Marine improves 40 AV in one day.

I am shipping supplies to Port Moresby and Rabaul which are out of supplies. I am hoping the supplies make it there to boost the base victory point total here at the end. Both locations are worth a lot of points for Japan and might give me an unexpected VP edge.

At least that is the plan.
