Found a bit of glitch with 1.2; as soon as I hit play all the planes on the ground disappeared. Funnily enough the planes in the air were fine but the CVBG's and airbases were bare.

Welcome aboard, that sounds like something that needs to go to the tech support thread.

They will want a save game so best to do a save. Once that is done perhaps do a restart of the game and see if it persists.

The problem seems to have fixed itself via a restart so that's out of the way, personally I'd also go for Black Reapers for the '15's. On the naming front I think it would smooth out the player experience somewhat if squadrons spread over multiple bases had a continuation of the numbers; for 330 and 337 Squadrons RNoAF they are spread over multiple bases but the units at the satellite airfields all have the same #1-2 designation. I understand why this is but I think it would be nice if they could have their numbers changed for a sequential order.

I am one hour in.

All (yes, all of them) aircraft apart from some rotaries were scrambled from:
1)Rygge
2)Gardermoen
3)Flesland
4)Sumburgh

Approx. half of all AAW F-14s have also been launched.

No other strike aircraft have been used, no cruise missiles have been launched.

All AD, every hiding in the crevasse mobile unit that refuses to be shot at even, have been wiped from around:
1) Sogndal
2) Sandane

AND, the above two airfields have had their runways pummelled to max damage, and I hope all aircraft standing destroyed.

I believe for the first hour I have achieved the ordered objective to restore the south and kept a lot of strike power in hand for moving north.

I was happy until I noticed that the second (third, fourth maybe?)wave was still to come.

I feel that my air superiority assets in the South are inadequate for task, I think I am short about 16 F-15Cs. I am already chasing attack aircraft with cannon so how am I supposed to respond to what my sensors indicate?

Now I will have to probably sit and watch while the South of Norway is freely bombarded. In the screen shot you can see clearly the still yellow craft marked by blue arrows.

By my count WP are 181 aircraft down for my 67. I lost a lot to sitting waiting for radiation and ambiguity to resolve ground based forces.

The difference now is I am skint (at least in AAW assets) but WP seems to have an endless pit.

Apart from this imbalance the scenario has been very tricky and a load of fun. Runs smooth on my 3 year old box.

I like the first one. "Grim Knights" doesn't sound smooth enough for some reason.

Must be my partiality for my alma mater's mascot that drew me to the "grim Knights" option [:D]

OK here is V1.3

Quite a few changes, thanks to everyone for their help.

Sorry AR - went with 'Black Reapers' [:D], Grim Knights sounded to Tolkienian to me [:D]

NF 13.1 Change notes V1.3
• Added RAF Conigsby
• Added 29 Sqn RAF (Tornado F.3)
• Added 57/493 FS (F-15C)
• Added Ammo to RAF Leuchers
• Beefed up some of the A2A loadouts
• Added 181 FW, 3x ANG F-4 Sqns
• Added 162 FW, 3 x ANG A-7 Sqns
• Added an ANG F-15A sqn to help out the older ANG Wings
• Added an ANG A-10 Sqn
• All NATO is able to ‘Quick Turn around’ this is primarily for the A-10s but some of the Jag, F-5 and F-16 loadouts allow it as well.
• Removed the F-18 Sqn on the non-player side
• Moved Clemenceau and her 3 SAGs back to just NW of Iceland so they have to transit to and establish the Jan Mayan ASW block. Clemenceau cannot survive further into the fray in this scenario so I won’t put her with the main group of CVs
• Swapped in the USS Nimitz BG from the Med, removed the Eisenhower BG which has been in constant action for a month
• Added a US Patriot Bn (6 Btys) to southern Norway
• Changed up the briefing a bit (essential bits in bold)
• Turned some Soviet missions to OECM active
• Pulled a few dozen Soviet Ftrs off of the AAW sweep and put them as escorts, this should slow down the initial surge and add a few more challenges later on
• Modified a bunch of loadouts to make both sides less weather sensitive

this is good... many thoughtful changes... blue ad will be helpful and realistic... i was going to suggest the western groups to be farther south for there sweep...

with the cloud cover at 10000k ft... will waleye and other munitions still launch...? i have so many days in this i dont want to start over for now.... i might raise the clouds to 11000k ft to be sure...

this is a very coo scenerio... for sure...

Looks great but it seems you've attached V 1.2 rebranded as 1.3 because when I fired it up none of the aforementioned changes were present.

I had another go today; the changes with 1.3 overall are great.

With the carrier groups further back I'm able to focus on the air war in Norway for the first few hours without goblins crawling up my rear.

With TLAM strikes, AAW ops, and several strikes on enemy airbases, the current tally at 1730Z is:

Some changes in WRA / Doctrine (shotgun after all BVR weapons, RTB immediately -- is particularly effective in the AAW patrols) have seen better results from my side.

MAG 2 conducted strikes on Sogndal and Sandane which were more effective than earlier strikes by F-16s and Jaguars. The difference with OECM from their EA-6Bs is quite noticeable. Unfortunately by the time I'd had a first unsuccessful strike and followed up with the more successful MAG 2, the enemy aircraft were off bombing my bases rather than receiving my CBUs on the ground.

The SAM batteries around Sogndal in particular are murdering my AAW birds; I'd love to create a no-nav zone around them by this unfortunately means I can't destroy them. In a scenario this large I don't have time to micro either. Oh well, could be worse!

Half of the A-10's got chewed up when I sent them to hunt down ground units around Nordberg, while the other half got caught on the ground by an airstrike. Sadly I don't think they got a single ground kill in return, although I know one or two flankers were taken down by their sidewinders.

The U-2 got caught by a Foxhound, without providing any meaningful intel. Next playthrough I'll pull it well back and save it for BDA and recon later in the scenario when air defenses have been thinned out.

The RAF/RN harriers had a good outing against the Tarantuls; sinking 2 and heavily damaging another. They're just RTBing now having lost a few of their number, while their SHAR escorts downed 4 flankers for zero losses themselves.

An alpha strike from the Carl Vinson CVBG struck Orland with good effect; thanks to heavy jamming from their EA-6Bs and lots of HARM slinging escorts there was relatively light losses.

Right now I'm counting down the next 30 mins until the ANG F-15As are ready, and then they'll ferry into Fleisland. There's a few F-15Cs arriving from the Black Reapers now to hold over the Bergen and Lillehammer CAPs until then, and things have quitened down to the point that I will feel comfortable changing the patrol levels to 1/3 or 2 on station once the ANG arrive.

When the ANG F-4s and A-7s are ready, I plan to use them to conduct some large-scale strikes; most likely against Vaernes and Orland. Meanwhile the Nimitz air wing is re-tooling for strike operations, with the most likely target being Bodo. Come to think of it, a co-ordinated strike from the Vinson and Nimitz on Bodo would probably be the best bet, as I am guessing Bodo will be heavily guarded.

TF20 has mostly stayed out of trouble, a few Backfire recons but no raids yet. Some of their F/A-18s are re-configuring for strikes against Northern Norway, but no firm plans yet.

Groupe Norde has had essentially no action, but that is largely by intention. The SAGs are moving ahead to commence ASW ops as ordered, while the Clemenceau is lagging a little to give a buffer zone. TLAM strikes took out the helipad, runway and HQ bunker on Jan Mayen so there shouldn't be too much else to deal with there.

As I said before, the 1.3 changes are great. There is a huge difference in enjoyment as I'm able to keep up with the pace of everything that's going on without feeling overwhelmed.

Please adjust the range of the SAM .e.g. to 75%
So it is too easy. I return my fighter as soon as I see a SA-11 Gadfly. All the SA-11 fire at about 25nm distance and run out of energy (or Miss)...

Otherwise I have just started[:D]
