RE: Triumph of the Reich Scenario

Is there a routine in the event that checks for empty units? Because TO&E works on any unit with at least one sub unit in it.

I suspected events 40 and 41 were the problem (they relate to rebasing air units to Murmansk, which is a minor part of the game).

Setting those two events to No Check appeared to reduce the problem, but I am not convinced it has eliminated it.

I will continue to investigate and will upload an updated scenario file once the problem has been corrected.

Not sure how to do that in the editor I don't use the events section at all.

Early morning in Australia, I am about to start running test games to try and nail down the problem.

If you are not familiar with events you have avoided a lot of potential frustrations! Although it is satisfying when they work. There are over 250 events in Triumph so it can take a while to find a problem.

If all else fails I will see if one of my collaborators can help.

I will post again when I believe the problem is resolved.

For now I just manually move one sft into blank units. The system seems to work ok if a unit exists.

Well at least there is a workaround.

Sorry for the inconvenience, but nice to know you are willing to persist and take a look at the scenario.

No Cruiser Technology? Got destroyers but no cruisers.

It depends on the Regime. Britain, the US (once it becomes playable in June '41), Germany, Italy and Russia should all be able to build cruisers from the start.

The CW, France and Turkey have the tech but no shipyard unless they build one.

The SS can't research any ship tech or build any ships.

The Axis Minors can only build cargo ships, destroyers and subs in their minor shipyard.

Finland can't research them and so on for the other Regimes.

If the above does not fit with your experience please let me know.

Well that is not supposed to happen.

Since it's getting late (for you too, you being in Sydney and me in Adelaide), I quickly put together the following.

If you have already extracted the atzip, (or you can rename it to a .zip file and then extract it to a folder on your desktop) you can manually check the files are all in the right place.

The following graphic shows where everything should go. I also gave an idea of file sizes in case something went awry with the download.

If this doesn't help, I will reply in the morning. I can give you a Dropbox link to try out also.

When you say the game doesn't open (I assume you are selecting Load Scenario), does nothing happen, or do you get the little blue rotating circle and it just keeps whirring away without doing anything?

Thanks for your prompt response Icym. Yes, I was getting the blue rotating circle, then pop-ups saying numerous files were missing.
Anyway I'll have another go and let u know how I get on.

On 9/15 Twotribes identified a problem with toe units disappearing from the map.

An updated scenario file version 1a has been uploaded to the VR Designs scenario bank. This update appears to have largely solved the problem.

If you download and play the new version, please click on the Statistics button and check the Brief>Bugs tab. Further information about what has changed is listed there.

Great news! Appears I got everything working. Had to do it manually but nevertheless the game is now installed and working....[:)]

It just occurred to me that I use Libre software on my computer instead of Microsoft. Would this have anything to do with it?

So the fix is manual? I can not zip it.

Falco,

Good to know it is working now.

I am unsure what effect the software you have would cause, but since it is working, I guess that is the main thing.

Twotribes,

This is kind of bizarre. Clearly I did something wrong with the updated version but who knows what.

It can still be made to work but I will have to change my instructions on the VR Designs scenario bank.

I tried downloading the updated scenario and it produced a file called Triumph_of_the_Reich_v1a.zip

But it is not a zip file, so far as I can tell.

So I renamed the file I downloaded to Triumph_of_the_Reich_v1a.at2

Then I put the renamed file in the atgoldscenarios folder and then it could be loaded like any normal scenario and it worked fine.

Some people may experience problems changing the file extension because their PC is set to hide extensions for known file types, so you won't see the .zip or .at2 after the file name.

Anyone who has a problem, if they are prepared to PM me their email address, I will email them the correctly named file.

If anyone can explain why a single scenario file which was uploaded as a .at2 file had its extension changed to .zip when it was downloaded, I would love to know.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

A few players have experienced difficulties downloading the updated version of this scenario from VR Designs (including me when I tried it!).

The problem seems to occur if you click on the file name to download, then click on save the file that results is identified as a zip file - which it is not - it should be an at2 scenario file.

For anyone who experiences this problem, the graphic below shows how to stop this happening.

If you still have a problem, please post here.

Note the latest version is currently v1c.

The Siberian gun factory produces Russian units not Siberian.
