Repeated Attacks

I've been attacking for several turns a unit in difficult terrain. Last turn I finally got 6:1 odds, got repeated attacks and made it retreat. However, my troops didn't advance in its place, although they had orders to!:( :confused:

My opponent sent some more troops to the same spot this turn. I attacked them too, got 7:1 odds, but no repeated attacks this time!:( :eek:

What's happening here? Why is the game behaving this way?! Did I do something wrong?:rolleyes:
