Barges ?

Post by S-type »

I have been playing for a while, but mostly European scenarios. I wanted to try something different and started the Tulagi campain.

However I got stuck on the first scenario trying to get my troops loaded on the barges. The 2 units can't seem to occupy the same hex, and so I can't load them.

I know there must be a really simple answer to this, but I can't find the info in the manual. HELP!

Thanks for your assistance.

If you are able to load them up during the deployment phase, you just select the inf unit, click the "load " button and select the barge. If you can't do that and need to get both units in the same hex to load (as you will during the game), select the inf unit, hold down the shift key and l-click on the hex with the barge in it. (as long as the inf unit can occupt that type of terrain).

Is this what you were looking for?

I do believe Barges can be loaded from an adjacent hex, my good man. Just hit load once the barge has benn selected and then click on the unit you wish to load.;)

I got barges for the first time in MCLV and the **** thing won't load more than one unit and it wouldn't load a loaded truck or HT. Quite annoying, but V2 is right, you select the barge first, then click load, then the adjacent unit you want to load and then off you go.

IF MY MEMORY SERVES ME CORRECTLY YOU CAN LOAD MORE THAN ONE UNIT ONTO A BARGE DURING THE DEPLOYMENT PHASE OR IN CREATING SCENARIOS BUT NOT DURING THE GAME.IM A BIT VAGUE,MAYBE DUE TO OLD AGE;)

Bah, after trying the first fight in the scenario I realized I didn't need barges at all. I needed Alligators, wich are much cheaper, for some reason. With the barges I didn't even get my troops on th island before the turns was up.

Also, I took all the VHs, toasted plenty of the enemy and had minimal losses. Still just a marginal victory. The computer must have been given free points somehow

i think one of the hexs is turn based so you have to go for that one first

Really?

Post by S-type »

I checked that, but they are all "end of battle" hexes.

I think I remember reading someplace that there are now "hidden" VHs? Maybe there are some in this scenario? Does anybody know?

IIRC, there are a 'per turn' VH placed underneath the 'end of battle' one at the north of the island.

Tulagi's per turn hex

Post by Kokoda »

I thought there must be some mistake too, and was told on the Forum boards that the northern VH is a per turn one. Explains everything.

The best result I've heard of is to air drop onto that VH and then sit it out. Not done it myself. Otherwise the Japs get at least 5 turns of per turn benefit as your alligators brave the waves, eliminating the poss of a DV.
