You Tube videos?

Post by Ostwindflak »

Not sure if I missed it, but are people who have access to the beta supposed to be posting videos of this game on you tube? There are videos by 3 different people so far:

1. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GzX-_rSKRvc

2. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=adZmcmykBTc

3. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rr5Rf0BibjU

Just curious given how I did not see anything about this being a public beta (I haven't been on this forum for a couple weeks though) yet. Perhaps they got permission?

A month ago we were asked to NOT post videos or even screenshots as Matrix wanted to get it's own marketing to cover the game - and I think they were doing a splendid job. Maybe those 3 asked for permission (I'd hope), but yes, this is a private beta and it'd not be cool to enter a beta just to be able to further one's own youtube channel. I don't recognize any of the youtube channel posters as people who contributed much to this beta (based on user ID). I won't watch the videos as I don't have time - but if they complain about bugs or issues on an unreleased game in a private beta, I think they're doing the game a major disservice and could hurt sales. Same with the fact they're showing an un-optimized game on youtube where people have the attention span of crackhead fruit-bats. But Bill & Hubert are often too nice to chastise anyone [:-]. Not me though LOL [:)]

I was surprised when Daniele posted 'paradogs' video because I didn't recall hearing anything about it [not that the beta testers have to be told about stuff]. I am surprised again that there are more, given the points that Jeff just made. Permission must have been given, otherwise Matrix would have YouTube pull them.

Thanks for your concerns everyone and as far as I know these are sanctioned Beta previews by Matrix (from journalists) just to help spread the word on the game as we near release.

Glad it was done with Matrix's knowledge and blessing. Hopefully it will drum up more interest in the game for the release date.

I would think better to wait for the full version before putting it out there like that. an official promotional video would be more effective in my opinion.

Hi all,

Just to assure you that all of these youtubers listed above have been allowed by Marketing and PR Department to post previews of Strategic Command on their youtube channels.

Cheers,
Daniele
