Southgate has a very good chance of making the job his permanently
Indeed.

Do you think he should get it?
warspite1

I think they will see how he performs in the next 3 games and then decide. I want to see him have the balls to drop Rooney. No one (except Mourinho) seems to be able to do that!

Atleast Norway keeps up at being utter rubbish. Qualification more or less over allready, cannot wait for the team to lose to San Marino on Wednesday [:D]

at least Scotland is going to be competitive this time --- in the sense of lets see how quickly we can reduce our chances to zero before then deciding to beat someone in a surprise result

maybe an interesting race to see who is effectively out of this the first?

After the loss against Azerbaijan, we effectively are out. Theoretically we still have a shot, but effectively we are out. To have a fair chance to qualify, we needed 6 pts against Azerbaijan, now we can max get 3.
Sad thing, I am glad. The team is so utter rubbish, and would contribute nothing in the competition anyway, so better to leave the 2nd place in the group to either Northern Ireland or to the Czech Republic.

And the latest rumour is that Southgate will do just that tomorrow [:)]

And that is the one thing I like about Mourinho. He will get rid of a player if he thinks (personal but professional judgement) he is not good enough anymore.

He is not blinded either by some chauvinistic feelings. Before leaving Real Madrid he quarreled with the two Portuguese (and other players for that matter [:D]): Pepe and Ronaldo (go figure). The latter ended up insulting him: "f*ck you".

With that tough group you find yourselves in, you need to win your home games. Holland losing at home tonight is not a bad result either [;)]

all true, but we are trying to play international football wearing lurid pink shirts (ok for a concert at the Barrowlands but ...) - for crimes against fashion alone Scotland deserve to be banned

Well that was a brand new experience!

England are drawing 0-0 in a World Cup qualifier and in need of a goal as the opposition look perfectly capable of nicking one themselves. Then as the England player sets himself up to shoot.....I find myself hoping he doesn't score. Yep I am actually hoping the shot misses. Guess the player and you can guess the reason.

Sorry, but why is Rooney playing? He simply offers nothing anymore. He loses the ball more than anyone (and lets face it, he's up against some pretty stiff opposition) and his passing is either wayward or sideways - sometimes both.

Whatever Rooney provided - and he has been a good player (albeit not in tournaments when it matters) he is no longer capable of providing it so stop treating him as some sort of special case, some form of footballing royalty, and just stop playing him.

Then what about giving San Marino their first away goal in a WC qualifier for 15 years? [:D]

Here half of Norway went "oh crap" when we got 2-1 [:D]

Re Rooney, I have to agree, he is not providing anything anymore, and should be dropped. Tbh he should have been years ago.

I am beginning to wonder why Suarez is not getting more red cards. [&:]

He should be suspended for a really, really, long time.

Not sure if you can run this clip. He just decides to knock the opponent out instead of beating him in a running duel. How that is not a red card astonishes me.

Early days of course, and in fairness Guardiola is still lumbered with a lot of dross from the previous regime, but the last couple of weeks have been er...... a little challenging. And he needs to produce after his relative failure at Bayern Munich....
