Scenario recommendations

The new Cold War turned hot wargame from On Target Simulations, now expanded with the Player's Edition! Choose the NATO or Soviet forces in one of many scenarios or two linked campaigns. No effort was spared to model modern warfare realistically, including armor, infantry, helicopters, air support, artillery, electronic warfare, chemical and nuclear weapons. An innovative new asynchronous turn order means that OODA loops and various effects on C3 are accurately modeled as never before.

Scenario recommendations

Post by tbridges »

Some of the stock scenarios are rated for PBEM (HTH) play and others are recommended for play against the AI.

What characteristics drive these recommendations? What makes a scenario good for HTH playing and what makes a scenario more appropriate for playing against the AI?

Along the same line, the manual (IIRC) states that you should play from the designed side, but in game it says "best played as". So, should I avoid playing from the "wrong side"?

Set up of forces is the major factor. Playing against a side not setup for forces and structure are usually a mess when engaged and also end up being out of command and suffering major delays. HTH scenarios are meant to be setup by each player before starting the game. Something I hope will remove in Southern Storm. [;)]
OTS is looking forward to Southern Storm getting released!

I wish it was more clear about which side to play instead of using abbreviations. Good game

We are working on a filter.

At the moment it is the way it is. The briefings state which side is the preferred side as well.
