RE: Reports not available when playing Allies or Hotseat

Post by BillRunacre »

Thanks for this. [:)]

I'm glad there's only one script that felt out of place and I can see why.

In terms of French National Morale it has a low starting point, and so unit casualties will have brought it down. Perhaps I'll need to bump it up and then correspondingly increase the penalties it receives when (or, based on this game, if) the Axis invade.

Hope it helps

The first thing that came to my mind was that if the US enters and France is not surrendered, then maybe a larger increase to French NM ? [I think there already is one but maybe it is too small?]. I don't mean enough to make them like everyone else, because their morale problems were deep rooted and not easily overcome, but enough to hopefully keep them from surrendering in the above outlined situation.

The red circled port has gone to zero and I haven't attacked it. Then I noticed that I could move the Italian naval units thru it to the Atlantic [couldn't stop in it though]. This all seemed odd.

While a port is at zero, you can always move through it.
May guess: because of the land siege of Gibraltar the ressources dropped down to zero.

Nice ! Thanks X-man.

I forgot to mention, the port just north of the red circle seems to be in the same situation but it is still at 5.

No bugs here - I just wanted to wrap up the game that was outlined in post #399. Russia finally folded after being battered by the Axis for SIX years. Other then Poland, I never invaded any country except BeNeLux on the last turn, all others joined the Axis via Diplomacy [except Saudi Arabia which stayed neutral, and those traitorous Turks who joined the Allies!]. Having all those extra countries on my side was nice for the extra units, but a real hindrance because they suck up a lot of MPP's to be built up and upgraded.

The USA might have done a bit more to help out the Allied computer, but that might be the fault of my custom OOB possibly not jiving with the AI Purchase Scripts. I'll have to look at that.

Thanks H&B for more great fun !!

A message appeared and said that I could press P on the keyboard to view the map and place units to contain Partisan activity. I pressed P and nothing happened and the game continued on without allowing me to view the map. Is this a normal game function or a bug? Thanks.

This is actually rather odd, as the Italian ship's presence should prevent the port from providing supply to the unit in Gibraltar, but it shouldn't reduce the port's actual strength.

It's also strange that it hasn't reduced the other port's strength.

There aren't any extra SUPPLY scripts in your campaign that might do this?

Hi

Ah, the message may have appeared during the end turn sequence, which once it's got going cannot be interrupted.

If that makes sense, press P in your next turn and you'll be able to review the map positions.

If that is the case then it might be best if I consider moving that message to the start of a turn.

Our pleasure, it's great to see how this game went and most importantly, that you had a lot of fun playing it! [:)]

I haven't messed with any Supply Scripts. Scripts I have changed are: AI - Purchase and Research, Event - Decision, Partisan, Popup and Unit.

I'll see if I can recreate this with the stock campaign when I get time.

I've checked the scripts in the default campaign and apart from when the French bombed Gibraltar, which can only reduce the ports by 2 strength points, there's nothing else that should reduce the port in strength.

This has got me scratching my head. Have you had a ship adjacent to the southernmost port for longer than any have been next to the northernmost one?

The northern BB was there first and by itself, the southern one joined a few turns later.

Hi Bill - This bug with Gibraltar is repeatable with the stock 1939 Campaign. I started the game and had France declare war on Italy, and made no other moves than to move the UK BB's from Gibraltar and the Italian BB's to Gibraltar. I moved the northern Italian BB there first and nothing happened. Three turns later I moved the other Italian BB there and the southern port began dropping. I've got a save if you want it.

Thanks very much for this, I'm now seeing if I can recreate it with an updated game exe.
