New Installation

Post by Dabrion »

I have reinstalled my gaming rig and want to install MWiF. What is the correct order for the various updates and patches that float around? After installing the game version is 1.0.0.0. The updater does not work.

There were Updater problems that were fixed. There may be a thread about that you can find if you set the top filter for over 365 days. Or check with Customer Support.

The Updater should take you through to the latest public release. Then it's just a matter of replacing the EXE if you want to use the public beta or if that thread (it's one of the stickeys) has a hot patch in it.

Ok.. I retried and the patcher worked this time.. maybe there are office hours :D Game is at v2140. Is the public beta recommended?

The only annoying regression bug in the public beta is that units that initiate naval search don't flip. But now there's is a good thread available which can show how to edit game files including flip and unflip - which also would allow play with Isolated Re-org and can help fixing CPs RTB'ing when they shouldn't. You can even create CPs to fix the most galling production issues if they happen to occur. Of course then you have to keep track of the fixes needed, when needed.

Overall I'd suggest comparing the release notes before deciding. Almost all newly discovered bugs are esoteric of late.
