Movement Fog of War

Gary Grigsby’s War in the West 1943-45 is the most ambitious and detailed computer wargame on the Western Front of World War II ever made. Starting with the Summer 1943 invasions of Sicily and Italy and proceeding through the invasions of France and the drive into Germany, War in the West brings you all the Allied campaigns in Western Europe and the capability to re-fight the Western Front according to your plan.

Movement Fog of War

Do you experienced players typically play with movement fow enabled in addition to the standard fow? Also does this option render the shorter scenarios i.e. Husky impossible? Thx

Movement FOW is a trade off between too much information, and playability.

With it off.....selecting a unit will show you every hex it can move into. If the map shows a red hex....it means the enemy has a unit in it...which gives you free information.

With it on..you can only auto move into the first hex the enemy owns. SO you have to take short hops. This shouldn't impact on small scenerios, since you are probably not moving very far anyways...but it can be a bit of a pain on breakouts...like in France...or in the desert.

As a side note....it is somewhat cheesy, but the enemy can hide small units in the desert...then when you pass by them, pop up to the coast and cut off your supply. To counter this, you play with Movement FOW off...and you will spot them as red hexes when you are moving by.
